We are currently seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and motivated Support Worker to join our team. This role involves supporting individuals in a day service setting, promoting independence, wellbeing, and personal development in a safe and respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care & Daily Living Support
- Assist individuals with personal care needs, including dressing, bathing, toileting, and mobility.
- Support medication management in line with prescribed protocols and service guidelines.
- Assist with meal planning and preparation where required.
- Encourage independence in daily living tasks using appropriate techniques.
Social & Emotional Support
- Build positive, trusting relationships with service users.
- Provide emotional support and actively listen to individual needs and concerns.
- Support participation in social and recreational activities such as arts, crafts, and outings.
- Promote independence, confidence, and self-esteem.
- Safeguard service users, ensuring they are protected from all forms of abuse, including bullying.
Activity & Skills Development
- Support the development of life skills including communication, budgeting, and social interaction.
- Facilitate structured group activities that promote growth, learning, and physical activity.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to implement person-centred care plans aligned with individual goals.
Health & Safety
- Maintain a safe environment by following all health and safety procedures.
- Monitor physical and mental wellbeing, reporting concerns and liaising with healthcare professionals when necessary.
- Promote hygiene, cleanliness, and overall wellbeing within the service.
Administration & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including attendance, care needs, and incident reports.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Contribute to care plan development and reviews alongside multidisciplinary teams.
Team Collaboration & Development
- Work effectively as part of a team to deliver high-quality care.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Adhere to organisational policies, particularly in relation to safeguarding and dignity.
Qualifications & ExperienceEssential:
- Minimum Level 5 qualification in Health & Social Care (or related field).
- Experience in a similar role, ideally within a care or day service setting.
- Knowledge of supporting individuals with physical, sensory, or intellectual disabilities.
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate and patient approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to person-centred care.
- Full, clean driving licence.
Desirable:
- 2+ years’ experience supporting adults on the autism spectrum.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word.
- Experience developing and implementing person-centred care plans.
