We are currently seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and motivated Support Worker to join our team. This role involves supporting individuals in a day service setting, promoting independence, wellbeing, and personal development in a safe and respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Personal Care & Daily Living Support

  • Assist individuals with personal care needs, including dressing, bathing, toileting, and mobility.
  • Support medication management in line with prescribed protocols and service guidelines.
  • Assist with meal planning and preparation where required.
  • Encourage independence in daily living tasks using appropriate techniques.

Social & Emotional Support

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with service users.
  • Provide emotional support and actively listen to individual needs and concerns.
  • Support participation in social and recreational activities such as arts, crafts, and outings.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and self-esteem.
  • Safeguard service users, ensuring they are protected from all forms of abuse, including bullying.

Activity & Skills Development

  • Support the development of life skills including communication, budgeting, and social interaction.
  • Facilitate structured group activities that promote growth, learning, and physical activity.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to implement person-centred care plans aligned with individual goals.

Health & Safety

  • Maintain a safe environment by following all health and safety procedures.
  • Monitor physical and mental wellbeing, reporting concerns and liaising with healthcare professionals when necessary.
  • Promote hygiene, cleanliness, and overall wellbeing within the service.

Administration & Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including attendance, care needs, and incident reports.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Contribute to care plan development and reviews alongside multidisciplinary teams.

Team Collaboration & Development

  • Work effectively as part of a team to deliver high-quality care.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
  • Adhere to organisational policies, particularly in relation to safeguarding and dignity.

Qualifications & ExperienceEssential:

  • Minimum Level 5 qualification in Health & Social Care (or related field).
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within a care or day service setting.
  • Knowledge of supporting individuals with physical, sensory, or intellectual disabilities.
  • Strong communication skills with a compassionate and patient approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to person-centred care.
  • Full, clean driving licence.

Desirable:

  • 2+ years’ experience supporting adults on the autism spectrum.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word.
  • Experience developing and implementing person-centred care plans.
