STEPPING STONE CDC – CHILDREN’S SERVICES GALWAY

A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Support Worker Staff appointments for the Services may be made over the next 6 months.

Location:

Stepping Stone Child Development Centre provides a specialised preschool service to children between the ages of 3 to 5 years with an Intellectual disability and a possible additional physical disability & complex medical or behavioural needs. Initial placement will be in Stepping Stone CDC, Tuam, but with future developments and changes in service this post could become an out-reach role to the benefit of children and their families in the community.

Reporting/Responsible To:

Educator/Team leader/Children’s Service Co-Ordinator

Qualifications/Experience/Skills:

• A QQI Level 5 minimum qualification appropriate to the field of intellectual disability is required.

• Candidates must have a minimum of six months experience working in a school, healthcare or childcare setting. Experience working with people with an Intellectual Disability and behaviours that challenge is desirable.

• A full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) is required for this post.

• Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.

• Candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team-working skills, together with an enthusiasm for the post.

• Basic IT skills are essential.

Working Hours:

30 hours per fortnight based on a 5-day roster.

The Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

Annual Leave:

23 days pro rata per annum.

Remuneration:

Department of Health salary scales apply as at 01/06/2026: €34,881 x 11 increments - €47,624 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). A Long Service Increment €48,434 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.

Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays, sleep-ins and night-duty when worked.

Salary quoted is based on a 39 hour working week. The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous public sector service.

Tenure:

This post is permanent part time and pensionable.

Probation:

A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
