The Role:

The role of the Team Leader post is pivotal in supporting the coordination and management of a residential service in the Curlew Area. The successful candidate will initially be assigned to working in one particular area of the service however the work location may change depending on service needs. The main responsibilities are to support resource-management and staffing - including rosters, staff development, facilitating communication and professional leadership in order to ensure a good quality of life for the people attending the Service.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • A relevant 3rd level qualification in the Social Care or Health Sector e.g. Nursing qualification and current Live Register Certificate from NMBI or Social Care qualification registered with or eligible to register with CORU by November 2025.   • An appropriate qualification in Health and Social Care Management (QQI Level 6) is a necessary requirement of the post. If the successful applicant does not hold such a qualification, a commitment to obtaining the qualification prior to taking up the post will be required.
  • Previous experience of effectively managing a staff team and demonstrate a proven ability to pro-actively lead, motivate, empower and achieve results through people is an advantage.
  • A minimum of three 3 years’ post qualification experience, working with people with an Intellectual Disability is essential.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to community integration and active citizenship for all people with disabilities with experience in the area of human rights and advocacy.
  • Experience of working in the area of Autism and behaviours of concern would be desirable.

Skills:

  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate leadership and communication and team working skills.
  • The successful candidate will be a flexible and dynamic individual who will relate to people in a range of situations together with an understanding of and commitment to the principles of public accountability as they apply in the health service.
  • Knowledge and experience managing people’s well-being using an evidence based approach to person centred planning e.g. Personal Outcome Measures.
  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the National Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities and The Health Act 2007 (Care and Support of Residents in Designated Centres for Persons (Children and Adults with Disabilities) Regulations 2013.
  • Must have the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and confidentiality, be creative and self-motivated, communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms and co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy
  • A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.

Working Hours:

Contracted hours are 35 hours per week and will be based on a 7-day duty roster. Supernumerary hours are included to support the governance and management of the Service. In addition a sleep-in and/or night duty commitment may be a requirement of the post for which the appropriate allowance will be paid.

Annual Leave:

Leave will be granted according to the agreed leave assigned to the grade of the successful candidates i.e. Social Care Leader or CNM1. Annual leave must be planned in advance with the Area Manager / Service Coordinator to ensure appropriate and adequate cover is provided for the service.

Remuneration:

Based on the salary scale attached to the grade of the successful candidates i.e. Social Care Leader or CNM1.

Tenure:

Permanent, part-time and pensionable.
