What is the Role:
Working within the Homes Tribe, the successful candidate will lead and develop a software engineering team, taking responsibility for implementing and supporting resilient digital channels that enable a suite of savings, mortgage, investment, pension, daily banking and insurance products for EBS customers. You will function as recognised software engineering specialist, providing insight and expertise in directing a cross-functional team and ensuring maximum productivity by constantly monitoring and improving the team’s software engineering practice. You will help shape business outcomes and will have oversight and responsibility for complex IT change delivery.
Key accountabilities:
- Technology ownership of EBS customer- and staff assisted- digital channels, spanning all ‘run and change’ activities.
- Driving the delivery of end-to-end IT solutions, across multiple cross-functional squads, to enable business strategy and remediate legacy IT debt.
- Defining target IT architecture and driving plans to enable business strategy and remediate legacy IT debt.
- Providing technical expertise, covering technology modernisation, full-stack software delivery and CI/CD.
- Management of IT partners and vendors and relationships.
- People leadership, responsible for the performance management and career development of a team of direct reports.
What you Will Bring:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience of agile delivery of technology change, preferably in a financial services /mortgage products context.
- Broad understanding of application, Information and Infrastructure technologies and best / emerging practices; spanning agile methodologies, common architectural design patterns, microservices, data and CI/CD.
- Effective collaboration with IT partners (nearshore and offshore) and IT vendors / service providers.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences at senior levels within the bank.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills, with ability to build productive working relationships with internal teams, management and external stakeholders.
