At RTÉ First Line Response, we support RTÉs live operations and output. First Line Response is undergoing a restructure. We’re building a unified, pan-media support department that speaks with one voice to Content and Operations. This is your chance to be part of that change.
We’re looking for someone who’s curious, collaborative and keen to grow. You’ll be supported to build your knowledge in IP and be encouraged to develop your knowledge around SaaS and Cloud Computing, and to contribute to the advancement of RTÉ’s broadcast systems.
Reporting to the Supervisor, RTÉ First Line Response, you’ll be part of a multi-skilled team responsible for supporting RTÉ’s output across all platforms. The role has a strong focus on Audio, from studio infrastructure and routing to live radio switching and contribution systems, but you’ll also be expected to develop your skills across the full content-making remit of RTÉ.
Core Responsibilities include:
Act as a primary responder for broadcast critical output issues within RTÉ’s First Line Response Operations and Engineering teams
Undertake operational duties to support the broadcast enabling responsibilities of RTÉ, including, routing and feed management of audio/video/IP feeds, and any future forms of media distribution
Provide First Line IT support for broadcast critical areas and production teams
Analyse and resolve time sensitive incidents, initiate responses to disruptions, support and drive Broadcast Continuity Planning arrangements, and support proactive prevention measures
Develop new skills and take on new responsibilities to form a multi-skilled operations centre
About you:
To be eligible for this 12-week contract, you must be available to start on 4th May 2026 as the purpose of the contract is for the 2026 World Cup
Proven experience and knowledge of broadcasting in an Engineering and Operational setting in either Audio, Television, Online/IP
Good problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail and intent to follow-up
Strong hardware skills: the ability to disassemble, repair, reassemble and test hardware
Strong software skills: understanding of networking/IP, HTTP, Virtual Machines, Cloud Computing, and coding principles
The ability to excel in a fast-paced, self-directed, agile environment where strong technical, analytical, and problem-resolution skills are required
Educated to degree level (3rd Level, or similar) in: Electronics, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Broadcasting, or a closely related subject

The salary scale for this grade is from €50,933 to €64,693 gross per annum.
