Job Overview

As a Trainee Buyer in the Procurement Department, you will work closely with other Buyers to source the right materials at the right time enabling us to meet our Customer orders on time. You will receive on the job training, in addition to external development opportunities to give you the skills you need to be a successful Buyer. You will learn about material sourcing, supplier management, stock control and how to ensure we maintain high standards of Quality with our suppliers. You will get the opportunity to work with multiple departments internally and liaise with suppliers globally.

Main Activities/Tasks
  • Order placement and delivery of materials in a timely, compliant and cost-effective manner to meet manufacturing schedule and Customer delivery performance
  • Following initial training, manage a number of suppliers ensuring on time in full delivery of materials to the standards required
  • Participate in meetings with other Buyers and Suppliers to develop skills & knowledge
  • Support Vendor Approval and adhere to Change Control process
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders in other departments to minimise the risk of interruption to supply – ensure timely communication at all times
  • Work with suppliers and cross-functionally within Norbrook to ensure optimum stock levels in line with current inventory model
  • Undertake training to develop procurement skills to become a successful Buyer

  • Intermediate in MS Office Suite (particularly Excel)
  • Familiarity with basic regulatory requirements associated with pharmaceutical products is of an advantage.

Essential Criteria:
  • Good communication skills.
  • Highly numerate and strong IT skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Resilient team player with a strong Customer (internal & external) focus.
  • Ability to undertake external training where required, which may include study in your own time.

Duration: Fixed Term Contract, 9 months

Location: Newry
