Purpose and Function of Post
The trainee will gain on the job experience and undertake a learning and development training plan, which must be successfully completed by the end of the 2-year period, to enable the trainee to competently carry out the role of Lead Finance Officer, as outlined below:

The Council may retain a list of reserve candidates arising from this recruitment campaign, for any vacancies which may arise which are the same or similar and are of an equal grade of pay. This list will be valid for 12months. “Another similar vacancy” is defined as a post with a similar job description and person specification and on the same salary scale, which may be in a different department or duration to the vacancy initially advertised. Another similar vacancy does not include posts where the similarity relates solely to the salary scale.
The post will be subject to a Basic ACCESS (NI) check for successful candidates in accordance with Access NI Code of Practice.

- Managing the rotation and performance of finance officers to secure the delivery of an effective and efficient finance service which will include transactional functions and management information processes including creditors, payroll, income receivable and financial records.
- Supporting and assisting the Principal Finance Officer in the delivery of an effective and efficient finance service.
- The provision of support and assistance, as required, for the delivery of an exemplary system of financial management throughout Council.
