Trainee Printer

MAIN FUNCTION OF JOB:

Training and working across all areas of Interpress: to help produce all products within deadlines to the required quality and quantity with the minimum waste.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reel store:

• Operate a forklift
• Load/unload delivery vehicles
• Maintain efficient stock rotation and storage
• Operate the reel stock control system
• Keep the reel store clean and tidy

Press hall:

• Load reels into reel stands
• Prepare reels for webbing up and operate webbing up device
• Prepare splice patterns on to loaded reels
• Ensure adequate levels of consumables are maintained
• Assist with press cleaning as required
• Keep the reel stands and press hall clean and tidy
• Assist with the de-plating of the press between each title

Mailroom:

• Prepare and operate mailroom equipment
• Ensure all products are stacked in the correct quantities
• Ensure all products are wrapped and strapped correctly
• Assist with running of trimming machine
• Assist with running of inserting machine
• Operate forklift truck and carry out general maintenance
• Keep the mailroom clean and tidy

CTP:

Ensure the efficient operation of the platemaking department.

• Manage the page transmission system, in conjunction with send sites.
• Produce plates in accordance with print schedules
• Ensure that all production schedules are met
• Liaise with customers and suppliers as required
• Maintain efficient stock rotation and storage

Printing:

• Prepare the press ready for production ensuring scheduled start and finish times are achieved at all times
• Produce all products within the waste target
• Ensure all products are produced to a high standard of quality
• Maintain the press and associated equipment on an ongoing basis

• Ensure all work is within health and safety guidelines
• Adopt a flexible approach in order to meet all production requirements
• Carry out any task as reasonably requested by senior management

The successful candidate will undertake NVQ training.
