EZ Living Furniture was founded in Galway in 1998. We are a family run Irish retailer operating nationwide, as well as a full online shopping experience offering delivery throughout Ireland. We are the largest independent Furniture Retailer in Ireland employing over 350 people.

Role Overview

EZ Living Furniture requires a Transport & Distribution Manager on a 3-6 month fixed term contract. As the Transport Manager, you will be the heartbeat of our distribution network. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring our high-quality furniture reaches our customers safely, efficiently, and on time. You will oversee a dedicated team of drivers, manage a modern fleet, and serve as the critical link between our warehouse operations and customer service teams.

A primary pillar of this role is uncompromising compliance. You will be the designated lead for RSA standards and Health & Safety, ensuring our fleet and our people operate at the highest levels of professional excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fleet & Compliance Management

  • RSA Adherence: Ensure 100% compliance with Road Safety Authority (RSA) regulations, including tachograph analysis, driver hours, and licensing.
  • Maintenance: Schedule and oversee all fleet servicing, CVRT testing, and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous digital and physical records for all vehicles and drivers, ensuring "audit-ready" status at all times.

2. Operational Leadership & Routing

  • Team Management: Direct leadership of the driving team, including performance reviews, shift patterns, and daily briefings.
  • Route Optimization: Oversee the daily routing process to maximize fuel efficiency and ensure realistic delivery windows for our furniture products.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in the distribution chain and implement lean solutions to improve delivery speed and quality.
  • Cost management- Delivery cost efficiencies in fuel, fleet servicing, fleet purchase and routing logic while exceeding customer expectations.

3. Health, Safety & Training

  • Safety Standards: Conduct regular Health & Safety checks, risk assessments, and vehicle inspections.
  • Driver Development: Lead all driver training initiatives, including manual handling (essential for furniture), load securing, and safe driving practices.
  • Incident Management: Lead investigations into any transport-related accidents or "near-misses," implementing corrective actions immediately.

4. Cross-Functional Communication

  • Stakeholder Updates: Provide real-time updates to the Distribution Support Admin and Customer Service teams regarding delays, vehicle issues, or delivery successes.
  • Customer Interaction: Act as the escalation point for complex delivery issues, ensuring a professional and empathetic approach to customer concerns.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience: 3–5 years of proven experience in Transport Supervision or Management (Required).
  • Education: Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Transport Management. A valid Transport Management CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) is essential. A C Licence.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of RSA compliance, tachograph regulations, and transport law.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in transport management software and routing tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage diverse personalities.
  • High level of physical awareness regarding the handling of bulky/heavy goods (furniture)
  • Mentoring and training expertise in a distribution and transport Environment.
