Fáilte Ireland invites applications for the position of Travel Advisor.
Job Purpose
Manage the assigned Tourist Information (Mullingar) and Business Support Centre and connect visitors and tourism businesses with relevant supports.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of the Irish tourism sector and demonstrate the ability to combine high-quality visitor service with effective administration, stakeholder coordination and the operation of a multi-purpose visitor and business-support facility. They will work cross-functionally with Fáilte Ireland teams and external stakeholders and will demonstrate strong communication, organisation, relationship-management and customer-service skills. They will have:
Experience coordinating administrative activities such as bookings, meetings, schedules, records, events or service delivery.
The ability to manage a varied workload and balance competing visitor, operational and stakeholder requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with visitors, tourism businesses, colleagues and external stakeholders.
The ability to work independently, use sound judgement and escalate matters appropriately.
A collaborative and flexible approach to work.
Primary Objectives/Key Responsibilities
Visitor and Enterprise Centre Operations and Facilities
Manage the day-to-day administration, operation and presentation of the Visitor and Enterprise Centre.
Coordinate bookings, meetings, clinics, workshops and related room, technology, materials and attendance arrangements.
Liaise with internal teams, suppliers and facilities providers to maintain the premises, equipment, stock levels, health and safety standards and operating guidelines.
Enterprise Support
Act as a first point of contact for tourism businesses, identifying needs and providing information on approved Fáilte Ireland and external supports.
Direct businesses to relevant teams, programmes, agencies or support providers and facilitate referrals, introductions and appointments.
Maintain current knowledge of available supports and referral pathways, keeping records of enquiries, referrals, participation and outcomes.
Identify recurring business needs or support gaps and communicate these through agreed internal channels.
Meetings, Clinics, Training and Events
Coordinate clinics, training, workshops, information sessions and enterprise-support activities delivered through the Centre.
Organise scheduling, registration, communications, room arrangements, presenter briefings and follow-up administration.
Support meetings between tourism businesses, Fáilte Ireland teams and stakeholders, and record participation, feedback and next steps.
Stakeholder Coordination and Relationship Management
Build and maintain effective relationships with tourism businesses, local groups, authorities, support organisations and internal teams.
Support collaboration across Visitor Engagement, regional and enterprise-support teams to promote appropriate use of the Centre.
Escalate complex enquiries and share local knowledge, emerging needs and good practice across the wider network.
Visitor Servicing
Provide accurate local and national visitor information, recommendations and itineraries.
Maintain destination content including, event listings, brochures, maps and other visitor materials for face-to-face, print and digital channels.
Capture visitor feedback, comments, complaints, recurring queries and destination insights through agreed processes.
Work with colleagues and tourism businesses to ensure visitors receive consistent, current and high-quality, up-to-date information.
Administration, Data and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of visitor activity, enquiries, bookings, referrals, meetings, events and business participation.
Manage booking systems, databases, CRM records and footfall reporting in line with agreed procedures.
Produce regular operational and activity reports for the Centre.
This role may require:
Working public holidays and, on occasion, outside normal office hours.
Attendance at divisional, project, stakeholder and operational meetings.
Travel to national and regional locations or sites.
Flexibility to provide support or relief cover at other Tourist Information Centres.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
To be eligible to apply for this role you must have / demonstrate in your application form the following:
A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a relevant role in tourism and hospitality or other relevant sector, ideally within a customer service or public facing role.
Knowledge of local attractions, tourism experiences and national destinations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using administrative, booking, CRM, database or related digital systems.
Experience maintaining accurate records and producing activity, performance or operational reports.
Qualifications/Mandatory Training
A Professional Qualification (minimum Level 6 under the QQI Framework) in a related discipline
Desirable Criteria
Experience in coordinating or managing the operation of a public-facing service.
Experience coordinating customer or stakeholder engagement activities and delivering customer-focused services, for example responding to enquiries, coordinating meetings, clinics, workshops, information sessions or training activities.
Experience in, or knowledge of the tourism, hospitality or a related sector.

We do not ask for addresses as part of the application process, however it is the responsibility of the candidate to acknowledge the base location of the role. This role is fully on-site in the Tourist Information Centre. The Tourist Information Centres are open 7 days per week at certain times of the year.
The successful candidate may be required to work 5 days out of 7 per week including weekends.
Selection Process:
Shortlisting will be based on applications and the selection process may involve two competency based interviews. A panel of successful candidates may be formed following the selection process.
Interview Attendance Requirement:
Candidates must be available to attend an in-person interview at the location and date specified by Fáilte Ireland. Please note that the location of the interview may vary from the base location of the role.
