Are you interested in playing a vital role in providing independent second line assurance on business processes, systems and controls to manage key compliance and operational risks within AIB UK?

Summary of Role

UK Operational Risk is a second line of defence function comprising of Operational Risk Oversight and Risk & Compliance Assurance, reporting to the Head of UK Operational Risk. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to engage regularly with the Senior Risk Management Team and the wider AIB UK Management Teams whilst having exposure to topics that are being monitored closely by the PRA and FCA as part of their regulatory agenda.

The primary objective of the team is to provide oversight of the banks Operational Risks to ensure they are being managed effectively by the first line of defence and adhering to the appropriate risk Frameworks and Policies. Operational Risk incorporates 10 distinct sub-risks covering areas such as Change Risk, Data Risk, Product Risk, Operational Resilience and Third Party Management.

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Monitor and assess Operational Risk events ensuring lessons learned are applied to all incidents.
  • Contribute to the evolution of regular Committee and Board reports ensuring the Operational Risk profile of the Banks is appropriately monitored against the Risk Appetite Statement.
  • Provide timely and insightful feedback to first line on all areas of Operational Risk including Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCA’s) and Event reporting.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and educating wider team in an ever-changing landscape.
  • Effectively plan and prioritise in order to deliver against the annual UK Risk Plan.
  • Support and embed a strong risk culture at all times.

You will need to show us that you have:

  • Experience in developing Operational Risk Frameworks, Including Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCA), Risk Appetite, and Reporting
  • Technical skills with experience working with data, analysis and making recommendations.
  • Dynamic self-starter with the ability to work independently demonstrating good organisational, communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to build strong effective working relationships without compromising independence and influencing the desired risk culture across the organisation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to communicate clearly.
