Utilities Maintenance Technician

About the Role

The purpose of the Utilities Maintenance Technician role is to lead the daily maintenance and asset care activities throughout the site’s utilities and process areas. You will ensure supply of all key services such as Water, Electricity, Chilling, Compressed Air, CIP sets, Gas steam, CO2, wastewater treatment plant and product as required. You will work closely with other departments such as process, quality, production. In this role, you will help to drive to reduce running costs of the area to help support Clonmel's production requirements. You will perform daily checks and maintenance works on all equipment within the process, utility wastewater treatment plant and crushing plant. While doing all of this, you will ensure site safety, quality, food, and hygiene standards is adhered to all times. A Safety first mindset is key in this role.

Note that this role rotates on rotational morning and night shifts.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Carry out daily, weekly, monthly tasks, standardised tasks as assigned and record these on CMMS system
  • Day to day operation, repair and maintenance of all utilities and systems necessary to support manufacturing and to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all systems.
  • Attention to detail and clear communication at all times
  • Work with manufacturing, Quality and outside vendors to complete servicing, calibration and validation work on equipment and utilities.
  • Follow all permits to work such as Intrusive risk assessment , hot works, working at heights, confined space LOTO
  • Record all, working hours for utilisation purposes in CMMS system
  • Problem solve and trouble shoot any maintenance works
  • Achieve all maintenance KPI’s as set out
  • Carry out safety Gemba walk log safety issues and close out same
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance tasks to ensure all plant and equipment is tested and inspected in a timely fashion. 
  • Liaise with maintenance planner and stores for spares part ordering and planning
  • Assist with review and development of standard operating procedures, site specific work instructions and risk assessments.
  • Undertake training in new processes as required
  • Support Engineering Team with project specific tasks.
  • Ad hoc duties as allocated by your manager.
  • Supporting the achievement of all Quality, Health & Safety, Hygiene, support operational teams to deliver Environmental and Food Safety standards in the area.
  • Responsible for the efficient running, improved operational performance of all utility supplies such as electricity, steam, gas, water, CO2 ,Air , industrial Refrigeration , process, crushing lines and waste water treatment plant
  • Play a critical part in driving the Energy and Environmental programs for the site
  • Become a super user in Pragma CMMS system on site
  • Lead and participate in energy reduction projects as required
  • Active attendances at operational meetings as required
  • Training and mentoring of operators and other technicians as required
  • Flexibility to Provide asset care support to all other areas of the site as required and complete any other duties as required by management.

About You

  • Degree/Diploma/Apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline. 
  • Knowledge of boiler, steam system and BOAS accredited preferable
  • Knowledge of working on compressed air and HVAC system
  • Knowledge of working with GEA, APV pumps, valves and systems
  • Knowledge of Siemens PLC
  • Minimum of 3 years’ hands on experience in industrial maintenance
  • Qualification in, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Strong ability to interpret P&ID, HVAC, utility schematics and electrical drawings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of CMMS system is advantageous.
