Waiting List Validation, Team Lead
Background
The NTPF is a corporate body with functions and responsibilities as set out under Statutory Instrument 179 - National Treatment Purchase Fund (Establishment) Order, 2004 and the Nursing Homes Support Scheme Act (2009).
Its key functions are:
- Arranging for the provision of hospital treatment to classes of persons determined by the Minister.
- Collecting, collating and validating information on persons waiting for public hospital treatment.
- Agreeing pricing arrangements with private & voluntary nursing homes under the Nursing Homes Support Scheme.
- Furnishing advice to the Minister for Health on related issues.
- Performing any other function assigned by the Minister for Health, since July 2012 this includes responsibility for the publication of Public Hospital waiting lists.
In carrying out its functions, the NTPF works closely with the Department of Health, the HSE, acute public hospitals and private nursing homes across the health system.
The Role
This Waiting List Validation Team Lead will report to the Validation Manager in the first instance (in their absence the Validation Executive). The duties of the role will be as defined by the Director of Waiting List Governance and Reform in conjunction with the Head of Audit and Validation and may be adjusted in light of changing priorities.
The Validation Function
The NTPF working closely with the HSE, Health Regions and individual hospitals provides a national Administrative Validation process and delivers validation programmes for patients on Outpatient, Inpatient and Day Case waiting lists. The NTPF also works closely with a multi-channel communication provider to maintain efficient, quality patient communication processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Within the Validation function of the NTPF the Waiting List Validation Team Lead will engage with a wide range of stakeholders in the NTPF and in the hospital system, as well as stakeholders external to the health system.
The key responsibilities of the role of the Waiting List Validation Team Lead will include the following:
- To participate in the development and delivery of a National Waiting List Validation programme for patients on hospital Waiting Lists in Ireland
- To lead a team of Waiting List Validators to deliver on a National Waiting List Validation programme for patients on hospital Waiting Lists in Ireland
- To work with stakeholders to ensure that the appropriate patients on waiting lists are identified, validated, followed up and reported on accordingly
- Responsible for the agreement of follow up Validation Action Plans with each individual Health Region and/or Hospital
- Responsible as Team Leader for all aspects of a National Validation including statistical analysis and reporting in respect of Waiting List Validation Programmes
- Responsible as Team Leader for the management of NTPF staff when off site
- Provide cover for other team leaders in their absence
- Any other role or responsibility which may be assigned by the NTPF.
