Walking For All Officer

The post holder will develop, co-ordinate and sustain regular volunteer-led walks in towns, villages and rural communities throughout the Council area, through the recruitment, training and support of Volunteer Walk Leaders to in turn increase the number of people walking and meet the objectives of the Walking for All programme (see additional information).

Please note
  • There is 1 temporary post available for up to 3 years, which may be extended subject to performance and funding.
  • The post is full time, working 36 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and Friday 9.00 am to 4.30 pm).
  • It is anticipated the successful candidate will be in post on 1 January 2026.
  • This post will be based out of City Hall Bangor; however, it is expected that a significant proportion of postholder’s time each week will be spent out and about in the council area. Following an initial training period, hybrid working may be available by agreement with the Council’s Parks and Cemeteries Assistant Development Manager (Recreation).
  • A reserve list may be kept from this recruitment exercise for 18 months.
  • Applicants must be available to work outside normal working hours at weekends, evenings and public holidays as dictated by the needs of the service and to work throughout the Borough as required.
  • Appointment will be subject to satisfactory completion of a medical questionnaire.
