Warehouse Assistant
Mulligans Pharmacy is a family-run business, established in 1957, that operates in the retail pharmacy sector and occupies 18 sites and 2 cafés across the southeast of Ireland. We pride ourselves on being a community-based pharmacy group that puts our customers first.
We are currently recruiting for a warehouse assistant
3-5 days a week in the Waterford area.
[Forklift licence preferred but not essential]
[Drivers licence required]
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receiving & Inspecting Deliveries: Accept deliveries, verify items against invoices or packing slips, and check for damage or discrepancies.
Inventory Management: Accurately label, store, and track stock using inventory systems. Conduct regular stock takes and report variances.
Picking & Packing Orders: Select items according to pick lists, pack goods securely, and prepare stock for dispatch to all branches.
Loading & Unloading: Safely load and unload goods from trucks or containers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual handling techniques.
Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the warehouse clean, organised, and free of hazards. Dispose of packaging and waste appropriately.
Equipment Operation: Operate warehouse machinery (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) in line with safety standards.
Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and report hazards, accidents, or equipment issues immediately.
Documentation & Reporting: Complete delivery notes, stock movement logs, and any relevant paperwork accurately.
Team Collaboration: Work effectively with warehouse staff, delivery drivers, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
Flexibility & Support: Carry out ad hoc tasks or assist in other warehouse areas as required by management.
Skills required
1. Physical Stamina and Strength
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items regularly.
- Comfortable standing, walking, or bending for long periods.
2. Attention to Detail
- Accurately read orders, labels, and stock codes.
- Spot discrepancies in deliveries or inventory.
3. Organisation and Time Management
- Prioritise tasks to meet shipping and receiving deadlines.
- Keep work areas clean and stock properly arranged.
4. Basic Numeracy and Literacy
- Count stock accurately and complete basic documentation.
- Understand written instructions and safety guidelines.
5. Teamwork and Communication
- Work effectively with colleagues, drivers, and supervisors.
- Communicate issues or delays clearly and promptly.
6. Safety Awareness
- Understand and follow warehouse health & safety procedures.
- Use manual handling techniques and equipment safely.
7. Forklift Operation (preferred but not essential)
- Hold a valid forklift licence
- Operate machinery confidently and safely.
8. Adaptability
- Willing to take on different tasks as needed.
- Flexible to work in fast-paced or changing environments.
9. Problem-Solving
- Identify and report inventory or equipment issues quickly.
- Think on your feet to resolve minor disruptions in workflow.
10. Basic IT Skills (in modern warehouses)
- Use handheld scanners, stock systems, or tablets.
- Input or track stock in warehouse management software (WMS).
