Overview:

  • The GMP Warehouse Material Handler (Contractor) is responsible for performing day-to-day physical and systematic warehouse operations within a highly regulated Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) biopharmaceutical environment.
  • In this role, Safety and Quality are the absolute highest priorities. The successful candidate will ensure that raw materials, consumables, intermediates, and finished goods are safely received, stored, transferred, and issued in full compliance with EHS standards, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data integrity principles. In addition support On Time In Full Shipping KPI.
Requirements

Responsibilities:

Safety Excellence (EHS):

  • Prioritize personal safety, peer safety, and operational safety in every task.
  • Strictly adhere to site Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines, PPE requirements, manual handling standards, and powered industrial vehicle (forklift/pallet truck) protocols.
  • Proactively report near-misses, unsafe conditions, and incidents immediately. Participate actively in safety walks and audits.

GMP & Quality Compliance:

  • Maintain zero tolerance for shortcuts that compromise product quality, cold-chain integrity, or data integrity (ALCOA+).
  • Ensure all operations conform to EU GMP / FDA regulations, site SOPs, and chain-of-custody protocols.
  • Ensure right-first-time execution for all documentation and system entries.

Material Movement & Logistics Operations

  • Execute the safe, accurate, and timely staging, transfer, and dispensing/issuance of raw materials, packaging components, and single-use assemblies to manufacturing suites and laboratories.
  • Perform physical receiving, unloading, and inspection of incoming deliveries from freight carriers, verifying piece counts, integrity of packaging, and vendor documentation.
  • Safely stage and prepare finished product or outbound shipments in accordance with strict temperature-control and transport validation standards.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment (e.g., counterbalance forklifts, reach trucks, power pallet trucks, and manual stackers) following certified training.

System & Inventory Transactions (WMS / ERP)

  • Execute real-time systematic movements and inventory status updates in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Warehouse Management System (WMS) (e.g., SAP).
  • Ensure immediate scanning and bin-to-bin tracking to maintain perpetual 100% inventory accuracy.
  • Support periodic cycle counts, physical inventory reconciliations, and discrepancy investigations.

Audit Preparation, Inspections & Compliance Support

  • Support operational audit readiness at all times to ensure the warehouse is perpetually inspection-ready for internal audits, corporate reviews, and regulatory body inspections (e.g., HPRA, FDA, EMA).
  • Assist supervisors and Quality Assurance (QA) with walkthroughs, escorting, and providing documentation during audits.
  • Support deviation management, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and timely implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) or change controls as assigned.

Housekeeping & 5S ("Tidy as You Go")

  • Uphold strict pharmaceutical-grade housekeeping by embedding the "Tidy as You Go" mindset throughout the facility.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and uncluttered aisles, staging lanes, cold rooms, and ambient storage bays aligned with 5S methodology (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
  • Complete and sign daily/weekly cleaning logs and inspection checklists according to SOP requirements.

Continuous Improvement & Area Projects

  • Actively engage in continuous improvement initiatives (Tier meetings, Kaizen events, visual management, and process flow optimizations).
  • Support warehouse layout modifications, procedural reviews, and equipment commissioning projects as business needs evolve.

Off-Site Material Coordination

  • Support off-site warehousing logistics, third-party logistics (3PL) coordination, off-site storage movements, and external sampling requests as required.
  • Ensure documentation and custody controls are rigorously maintained for any off-site or transit operations.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Safety & Quality: Zero overdue safety actions; zero critical or major audit observations; 100% adherence to EHS procedures.
  • On-Time In-Full (OTIF): Timely delivery of materials to production areas to eliminate production downtime.
  • Data Integrity & Accuracy: Real-time system confirmations, zero missing batch records/transactions, and high cycle count accuracy (>99.5%).
  • Housekeeping / 5S: Consistent audit scores and daily completion of facility hygiene logs.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent secondary education.
  • Previous experience (1–3+ years) working in a warehouse, logistics, or materials management role within a GMP, pharmaceutical, medical device, or heavily regulated industry.
  • Proven hands-on experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning / Warehouse Management System (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent WMS/barcoding scanners).
  • Valid certification or previous licensing for material handling equipment (e.g., Reach Truck, Counterbalance, Walkie-Stacker/PPT), or willingness/ability to achieve certification on-site.
  • Strong understanding of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and data integrity principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with temperature-controlled logistics, cold rooms ( to ), and ultra-low temperature freezers (, ).
  • Direct experience handling hazardous materials or DG (Dangerous Goods) with appropriate safety awareness.
  • Training in Lean, Six Sigma, or 5S operational excellence principles.

Physical Demands & Working Environment

  • Physical Activity: Ability to bend, crouch, reach, lift, and carry materials up to 20–25 kg in compliance with manual handling guidelines.
  • Work Environments: Daily operations across ambient warehouse spaces, temperature-monitored environments, cold storage walk-in units ( to ), and loading bays.
  • PPE: Consistent use of mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (safety shoes, high-visibility vest, eye protection, thermal PPE where required).

Additional Note:

  • Open to entry-level candidates with a strong willingness to learn; warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Safety-conscious, reliable, detail-oriented candidates are preferred.
  • Location: In-person interview required.
  • Travel: No international travel. Occasional travel to Waterford and Dublin storage locations may be required after gaining experience.
  • Shift: Weekly rotation between 07:00–15:00 and 13:00–21:00
  • Overtime: 1.5x rate; additional weekday/weekend OT may be required.
  • Contract: 11 months.
