Warehouse Operative
Job Purpose
To work under the direction of the Distribution Centre Manager/Team Leader, receiving, grading, categorising, storing and re-distributing donated and new goods, as directed. You will prepare goods for use by Oxfam Ireland’s charity shops and assist in the loading and unloading of stock from our transport fleet.
Working across a 7-day rotating shift pattern, you will be required to maintain the highest standards of housekeeping and comply fully with Oxfam Ireland policies and procedures.
Job ResponsibilitiesWork as part of a Distribution Centre production team within Oxfam Ireland’s Retail Operation taking daily instruction from the Centre Manager/Team Leader.
Load and unload vehicles containing high volumes of donations goods working to an agreed time-frame.
Responsible for sorting, grading, categorising of donated goods as directed for redistribution, in order to extract their greatest potential value.
Meet agreed targets set by Distribution Centre Manager on processing all goods.
Process shop orders as directed.
Work in a safe way observing all health and safety guidelines by familiarising yourself with the general health and safety guidelines as directed by the Distribution Centre Manager.
Maintain a good standard of housekeeping at all times.
Attend all team meetings contributing fully to team discussions and initiatives.
Carry out any other ad hoc duties determined by the Distribution Centre Manager.

Essential
Experience in a sorting and packaging environment
Heavy lifting is a requirement of this role
Flexible approach to working hours – ability to work evenings/weekends when necessary
Experience of working as part of a team and independently
Good communication and interpersonal skills (fluency in written & spoken English)
Good mechanical aptitude, dexterity and hand/eye coordination
PC user, familiar with Word, Excel, and Windows
Basic Mathematics & good English skills
Good time management skills
Ability to maintain the highest standards of housekeeping
Ability to comply fully with Oxfam Ireland’s policies and procedures
Self-motivated and enthusiastic
Desirable
At least 1 year’s sorting and packaging operative experience
Strong commitment to Oxfam’s mission and values
Eligibility to work in the UK
Oxfam Ireland is an all-island organisation working in two jurisdictions (NI & ROI), therefore, the post holder will be required to provide support all-island when needed.
In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder may be required from time to time to perform other duties as deemed reasonable and necessary by the employer. The job holder may also be required from time to time to work or attend training/meetings at another location. As much notice as is reasonably practicable will be given of any such change.
The job holder must abide by a sensible and safe dress code as agreed by the Distribution Centre Manager.
