Wastewater Network/Treatment/ M&R Senior Operator
The Role:
The Asset Operations function forms the cornerstone of service delivery to customers, protecting the environment and meeting regulatory standards as well as managing the majority of operational expenditure. The Asset Operations function has responsibility for operational and maintenance strategy, policies, planning and standard operating procedures for Water and Wastewater operations both nationally and regionally, ensuring that value for money and customer service is delivered.
The Wastewater O&M Management area is responsible for the national delivery of wastewater operational services through the operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of the wastewater network and treatment assets.
Reporting to the Wastewater Treatment Operations Team Lead, the Wastewater Treatment Senior Operator will have a remit over an area and is responsible for the operation of wastewater treatment processes on the treatment plants, including the wastewater sludge treatment process and carrying out routine maintenance activities on treatment assets for an area, in accordance with the task schedule.
Reporting to the Wastewater Network Operations Team Lead, the Wastewater Network Senior Operator is responsible for supporting the operation of the wastewater network infrastructure in a safe manner. The Senior Operator role provides day to day leadership and direction on the ground to ensure consistent delivery of water services.
Reporting to the Wastewater Network Maintenance and Repair Team Lead, the Wastewater Network Maintenance and Repair Senior Operative is responsible for supporting planned and reactive maintenance and repair activities across the wastewater network infrastructure in a safe manner.
Out of hours working will be required and appropriate overtime and standby rates will apply.

The Role:

Reporting to the Wastewater Treatment Operations Team Lead, the Wastewater Treatment Senior Operator will have a remit over an area and is responsible for the operation of wastewater treatment processes on the treatment plants, including the wastewater sludge treatment process and carrying out routine maintenance activities on treatment assets for an area, in accordance with the task schedule. The Wastewater Treatment Senior Operator will also be required to support the Wastewater Treatment Team Lead in the coordination of large tasks and the arrangement of the treatment team as required. The Wastewater Treatment Senior Operator will also be responsible for the rollout and coordination of operations initiatives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for supporting the Wastewater Treatment Operations Team Lead and mentoring of Wastewater Treatment Operators, as required
Responsible for coordinating larger/more complex tasks, including the -arrangement of resources, in conjunction with the Wastewater Treatment Operations Team Lead to complete wastewater treatment activity
Operation of the wastewater treatment processes, including the sludge treatment process and carrying out routine maintenance activities
Responsible for the rollout of operations initiatives such as process testing, compliance improvements, training & development
Support knowledge sharing between teams and coordination of team events as they arise
Responsible for delivering consistent customer service and managing the potential environmental impacts of wastewater treatment
Support the provision of wastewater treatment services, escalate issues and ensure data capture on issues that are relevant to the development of operational, maintenance and repair plans
Support audits, incidents and event management, including reactive response, ensuring all health and safety standards are met and pollution classifications are consistent
Responsible for operating and maintaining the plant as required including controlling and adjusting the treatment assets, inspecting and monitoring plants, testing and calibrating equipment, lubricating plant, replenishing consumables etc.
Adhere to the allocated task schedule and standard operating procedures, and close work orders for wastewater treatment activities
Responsible for taking process samples on the wastewater treatment asset base when required
Responsible for setting and responding to SCADA alarms in accordance with standards and procedures
Responsible for maintenance of critical spare stocks, tools and equipment
Responsible for coordinating chemical deliveries and safe storage at sites
Responsible for undertaking administrative tasks, including the completion of timesheets, work orders, raising of purchase request, H&S records and inventory management using the technology systems provided
Conduct plant checks and inspections to ensure early identification and resolution of problems, raising work orders on Maximo where required.
Support the implementation of process optimisation recommendations to improve wastewater treatment performance or to deliver efficiencies
Responsible for issuing of permits to work/access/transfers to all relevant contractors within their area remit and ensure they follow all health and safety procedures
Ensure all information is accurately recorded and promptly reported for audit purposes including the capturing of data on existing or replacement assets using the technology systems provided
Perform reactive investigations, operational fixes and raise work requests for resolution using the technology systems provided
Support Key Account Managers with any queries relating to issues affecting Key Accounts in their regional area, including site visits where required
Support Contact Centre / Customer Contact Technical Specialist with any customer issues/queries, including site visits where required
Ensure that any damage caused to an asset, by a third party or otherwise, is captured and declared to the Team Lead when required
Engage with internal and external stakeholders as required in conducting treatment operations activities.
- Engage with the EPA/HSE /contractors or any other third party in relation to treatment activities if required
Adhere to allocated task schedule, standard operating procedures and close out work orders on completion of task. Support the development of standard operating procedures when required
Support the operation of newly commissioned/upgraded assets as required and undertake appropriate site training
Ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to including performing risk assessments
Responsible for escalation of issues to the Wastewater Treatment Team Lead, as required
Liaise with Asset Planning regarding changes to the treatment plant loading or process
Support in the undertaking of capital works on operational sites, providing handover as required
Participate in out of hours and standby working
Responsible for daily housekeeping and minor ground maintenance activities
Responsible for ensuring effective and efficient use of budgetary resources in managing wastewater treatment assets.

Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information, and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Secondary level education or equivalent work experience
Minimum two years relevant experience working in a similar role
- Full, clean and valid Irish category B driving licence is minimum requirement. A clean driving licence is defined as meaning that the applicant has not been convicted of an offence under the Road Traffic Acts (other than an offence for which the penalty is the imposition of penalty points)
Previous experience of supervising or mentoring teams working in health and safety culture preferred and in a water or wastewater treatment environment an advantage

Role Title:Wastewater Network Senior Operator - Co. Kerry
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise the operation of the wastewater network in your area of responsibility in order to deliver consistent customer service and oversee teams to carry out routine maintenance activities on the network assets. Network activities will include assisting with sewer surveys as required; identifying location of heavy infiltration or storm water from road gullies, performing investigations and identifying interventions required on the network, clearing blockages and responding to alarms as required.
Ensure the regular checking of the chemical dosing measures at pumping stations and other odour control activities and support Wastewater Compliance and Sampling teams in operational sampling activity including new mains, burst repairs and failures and report on results of the analysis as required.
Supervise the teams to inform the customer about issues and resolutions, investigate and follow up on escalated customer complaints/local representative in order to support the delivery of a consistent customer service and manage the risk associated with public health and compliance.
Support Customer teams including Key Account Managers and Customer Service with any customer issues/queries or where works impact customer service delivery in the area.
Ensure adherence and compliance with all health and safety procedures and perform risk assessments (Safe System of Work Plan), use of PPE, and required duties under the Construction Regulations
Ensure the operations of Uisce Éireann vehicles and machinery in a responsible manner in line with all relevant Uisce Éireann vehicle, health, safety and security policies, ensuring stock levels in vehicles are sufficient to perform work where required.
Ensure adherence of teams to allocated task schedule, standard operating procedures and close out of work orders on completion of task, supporting the roll out and development of standard operating procedures when required.
Work with third parties/contractors to support undertaking activity on the network.

With full training and risk assessment, the role holder must have the ability to work in an environment that is sometimes uncomfortable or potentially hazardous such as: working with hazardous chemicals; sewage; confined spaces; lone working; remote working; deep water; animals; vermin; noise; hand and arm vibration, etc. This involves successful completion of occupational health assessment confirming suitability to work in such environments

Undertake planned and reactive maintenance and repair activities across the wastewater network infrastructure in a safe manner including repairs of burst and collapsed pipes and/or clearing blocked/choked sewers & pumping station repairs, etc. in order to deliver consistent customer service
Support incident and emergency response, ensuring all health and safety standards are met and pollution classifications are consistent
Escalate issues and ensure data capture on issues that are relevant to the development of operational, maintenance and repair plans
Responsible for carrying out proactive sewer cleaning to deliver consistent customer service
Responsible for ensuring stock levels in vehicles are sufficient for performing M&R activities at first visit
Update relevant systems and report on internal and external customer’s issues / problems including task requests and GIS updates
Responsible for issuing of permits to work as trained to all relevant contractors and ensure they follow all health and safety procedures
Responsible for supporting the Wastewater Network M&R Team Lead and mentoring of Wastewater Network M&R Operatives, as required
Coordinate activities on a daily basis to maintenance team as the Team Lead manages the team remotely e.g. checking that tasks are complete, verifying timesheets prior to Team Lead sign-off and authorising leave requests
General Duties and Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Secondary level education or equivalent work experience
FETAC level 5 / QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate or equivalent – Craft in apprenticeship such as Pipefitting
Full, clean and valid Irish category B driving licence is minimum requirement. A clean driving licence is defined as meaning that the applicant has not been convicted of an offence under the Road Traffic Acts (other than an offence for which the penalty is the imposition of penalty points)
Previous maintenance experience, such as maintenance of mechanical equipment, construction / road works environment
Experience / understanding of working within a strong health & safety culture
Experience using IT systems to ensure up to date recorded data (Microsoft Office)
Strong problem solving skills
Traffic management skills e.g. SLG qualification
Effective communication skills, to engage with a range of customers
Experience working within Water Industry and/ or other Utilities preferred
Knowledge of wastewater network processes
HGV licence
Basic knowledge electrical panels and electricity
