QUALIFICATIONS AND ELIGIBILITY
ESSENTIAL: Candidates must hold a recognised Primary Degree and a minimum of 3 years' experience in a skilled capacity in the relevant subject area.
GARDA VETTING: The contract is subject to Garda Vetting and no disclosure of convictions which CMETB considers would render the appointee suitable to work with children/vulnerable persons. Any conviction that, in the opinion of CMETB, renders the appointee unsuitable to work with children/vulnerable persons may give due cause for termination of the Contract of Employment.
CMETB reserves the right to have its employees re-vetted every three years or more frequently, if deemed necessary/desirable.
LOCATIONS:
- Co. Monaghan: Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, Monaghan
- Co. Cavan: Cavan, Cootehill, Kingscourt
HOURS: To be confirmed, up to a maximum of 35 hours per week.
SALARY:€38,283 - €68,835 (based on a full-time post; salary will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis for hours less than 35 per week).
WORK PERMIT: All candidates must be eligible to work in Ireland. Persons who are not Citizens of the European Union (EU), i.e., non-European Economic Area (EEA) Nationals, must be in possession of a valid work permit and must provide original documentation of same.
PURPOSEThe Resource Person is a core member of the YouthReach team, reporting to the Centre Co-ordinator on a day-to-day basis. S/he is not only involved in direct teaching duties but also works closely with centre management in the overall planning, delivery and evaluation of the programme.
Work with centre management in the planning, delivery and evaluation of appropriate responses to education and training needs, including the identification and implementation of indicators for education and training outcomes for learners.
DUTIES OF POST WILL INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:- Attendance shall be at such times as necessary for the delivery of the service.
- Resource Person will report to the AEO/Youthreach Co-Ordinator on a day-to-day basis for the delivery of an agreed work programme.
- Tutor support including initial training, in-service training and ongoing mentoring of volunteers.
- Student support including initial assessment, placing of learners, monitoring learner attendance and progress; linking with ETB Adult Education Information and Guidance Service.
- Literacy and numeracy development including programme design, curriculum development, training and resource support.
- Outreach work in the Cavan and Monaghan area, to include development and implementation of sensitive and creative promotional strategies.
- Monthly reporting and evaluation of resource work to AEO.
- Keeping records of student progress and submitting monthly progress reports to the Youthreach Co-Ordinator.
- Submitting tutors' monthly claim forms, registers and progress reports to the Youthreach Co-Ordinator.
- Attending FET team meetings.
- Liaising with relevant stakeholders, agencies and services.
- Attending appropriate in-service training as required.
- Substitution for tutors where appropriate and needed.
- Developing and maintaining inventory of teaching and learning resources.
- Assisting within the FET Service where appropriate (e.g. monitoring, accreditation, training, resources) with a range of learning options according to the priorities of the service.
- Assisting in the organisation of events, i.e. information days, awareness-raising social events, newsletters.
- Supporting student meetings and participation.
- Developing and supporting specific projects within the ETB.
- Participating in Evolving Quality Framework process.
- Being familiar with, and actively promoting, all programmes provided by the ETB FET Service. Assisting with the implementation of best practice and a quality service.
- Maintaining all appropriate records and materials relating to the delivered programmes.
- Monitoring and evaluating existing programmes with a view to informing future practice and provision.
- Monitoring and tracking service users.
- Assisting with the reporting requirements of the service.
- Attending meetings and training sessions as required.
- Any other duties relevant to the post.
- Complying with all lawful instructions of the ETB and its Chief Executive.

The Resource Person should have:
- Experience of tutoring in a Youthreach Centre
- Experience of tutoring the subject area
- Experience of working with adults and early school leavers
- Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating learning programmes
- A working knowledge of a range of teaching and learning methods and approaches appropriate to adults and early school leavers
- Knowledge and experience of a range of assessment models and techniques
- Experience of working with a range of accrediting bodies
- Experience of working on the management, development and/or administration of learning projects or initiatives
The Resource Person will have:
- Commitment to working from an andragogical model of education
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- High levels of motivation, flexibility and creativity
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Excellent organisational skills
