Job Objectives

Youthreach is an innovative programme launched jointly by the Departments of Education and Enterprise and Employment for unqualified early school leavers.

The programme requires staff who are flexible, multi-disciplined and experienced. A high degree of motivation and commitment to the person-centred model of training is essential, as is a commitment to working with the target group.


The general duties and responsibilities listed below are not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties involved and consequently, the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned from time to time and to contribute to the development of the post while in office:

  • Responsibility to the Centre Co-ordinator on a day to day basis for the delivery of the programme.
  • Direct class contact in the order of 20 hours per week.
  • Development and monitoring of programmes.
  • Assessment and monitoring of trainee course work.
  • Conducting interviews.
  • Administrative duties appropriate to the post.
  • To deputise when necessary for the Centre Co-ordinator.

Essential Requirements:

• Ability to deliver Team Working and Retail Skills • Knowledge and experience of a broad range of teaching methods • Have the capacity to be inspiring and creative • Be self-directed

Desirable Requirements:

• Knowledge of QQI processes. • An interest in extra-curricular activities • Experience delivering QQI modules within a similar setting • Preferably experience with similar demographic Salary:

  • €33,307 – €61,869 (including long service increment) per annum (pro rata). Successful candidates will be paid at point 01 of the salary scale unless they have previous public sector service at the same grade.

Hours of duty will be subject to the exigencies of the post but will be not less than 35 hours per week.
