It is an agency of the recently formed Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science. SOLAS works in close collaboration with Education and Training Boards (ETBs) across Ireland on provision of high-quality further education and training, equipping learners with relevant skills and knowledge, and providing a pipeline of talent into employment and to the Irish economy and society. At SOLAS, we put the learner, employers and communities, which FET serves, at the heart of everything we do. This caseload contains a mix of inpatient and day unit caseloads including children admitted for elective surgeries (e.g. Scoliosis surgery, Limb Reconstruction, Developmental Dysplasia of Hip, Amputations) and trauma admissions. Interventions can include rehabilitation, equipment prescription and provision, postural management, developmental input and supporting discharge home. Liaison with community teams is a key part of this role. The post-holder will work collaboratively with children and families admitted for surgeries who may have complex co-morbidities and levels of disability. The post-holder will play a key role in the management of the cross-site OT equipment loan service to support clinical outcomes and hospital discharge. The post holder will maintain appropriate clinical competencies to work across the orthopaedic service, whilst supporting junior members of staff to carry out their clinical duties. Essential Criteria: · Be registered as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU with the registration number listed on the CV.
