This includes ensuring the Council facilities and the surrounding areas are kept to a high standard of neatness, tidiness and cleanliness so that the overall environment is attractive and pleasant. Key Areas of Work ▪ Street cleansing and litter collection. ▪ Litter collection on main roads. ▪ Upkeep of play areas, lay-bys, picnic sites and bus shelters. ▪ General maintenance. Main Duties and Responsibilities ▪ Sweeping streets, pavements and car parks, either manually or accompanying a mechanical sweeper on designated routes. ▪ Collection of litter from all public areas – roads, car parks, paths, verges, playgrounds, tourist facilities, etc; place filled litter sacks in agreed locations and collect filled litter sacks and bring to recycling centre/storage location as instructed. ▪ Inspect and clean playgrounds. ▪ Empty litter bins and remove posters and graffiti and report to Supervisor incidents of vandalism, abuse of service, etc. ▪ Inspect and remove fly tipping/illegal dumping and dispose of it as necessary. ▪ Arrange for appropriate supplies of materials to be retained for use in the various properties and amenities. ▪ Identify areas for improvement, report damage and take action, where possible. ▪ Ensure appropriate disposal of any syringes, sharp or other dangerous items. ▪ Interact and co-operate with members of the public. ▪ Carry out all activities with due regard to the health and safety of the postholder and others, including the wearing of protective clothing, etc. as required. ▪ Take responsibility for a range of tools and items of equipment and report defects, as applicable. ▪ Other activities relevant to the post which may be allocated from time to time, including providing holiday cover and cluster working in other towns/areas. Housekeeper
Role: To efficiently undertake cleaning, domestic, catering and laundry duties within Northern Ireland Hospice facilities, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the buildings. To provide housekeeping cover between any of the Northern Ireland Hospice sites, as and when required. Principal Duties: • Ensure that patients, families and visitors to Northern Ireland Hospice facilities are treated with politeness and courtesy at all times. • Undertake housekeeping duties within Northern Ireland Hospice in order to provide services in an effective and efficient manner, while meeting quality and hygiene standards. • Undertake cleaning duties in accordance with the set rota and maintain a high standard of presentation at all times. • Undertake in-house laundry duties. • Check regularly and maintain standard cleaning materials and consumables such as detergents, paper products, protective clothing, etc., and report same to the Estates Support Manager. • Report via the Estates and Facilities Department any structural or fabric repairs or risks which are identified as being required, for example, faulty light fittings, equipment repairs, fire safety issues, etc. • Adhere to all policies and procedures including the Health and Safety Policy, Infection Control, Waste Management, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health, Safeguarding, and Social Media. • Ensure that any concerns or complaints relating to the housekeeping service are referred to the Estates Support Manager as soon as possible so that they can be dealt with in a timely and sensitive manner and participate in investigating such complaints in accordance with Hospice policies. • Be alert to the presence of risk within the working environment, take steps to minimise the risk and notify a Manager so that harm can be prevented. • Promote good teamwork whilst undertaking duties and communicate any job-related issues to the Estates Support Manager in a timely manner. • Participate in the development of services, policies and procedures as determined by the needs of the service and as a result of engagement with service users. • Attend mandatory training and team meetings. • Carry out any other duties which may be allocated from time to time to ensure the service is maintained, including assistance with pantry/kitchen duties in the In-patient Unit. • Provide Housekeeper cover between any of the Northern Ireland Hospice sites, as and when required at short notice. Caislean Adult Services provide a range of community-based servicesincluding day, residential, respite, community outreach, family support and a range of multidisciplinary support services. People are supported in day centres, supported employment, social and micro enterprises, training and education and these can be in groups or individualised. People are supported in residential settings in their own homes in the community individually and in groups. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our services to have valued social roles in their communities and to form friendships. The Support Worker is also responsible for all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes meals, household tasks, personal and intimate care and other related aspects of physical well-being. Reporting/Responsible to: Social Care Worker/Staff Nurse/Team Leader/Team Manager depending on location. Qualifications, Experience & Skills: Ø Candidates must have a good general education. A recognised qualification in the field of intellectual disability or a FETAC level 5 course is an advantage. A QQI Level 5 or higher is desirable. Ø A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads is an essential requirement. It may also be necessary for the appointee to obtain a Class D1 Driving Licence (if not already in possession of one). Assistance will be given towards this purpose of obtaining a class D1 licence. Ø Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability/autism/complex needs is desirable, however, induction and training will be provided. Ø Flexibility, team-working skills, patience and a sense of humour. Ø Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post and proficiency in I.T. skills. Working Hours: X2 Permanent Full Time Posts = 78 hours per fortnight X1 Permanent Part Time Post = 44.56 hours per fortnight All posts are based on a 14-day duty roster.
