Medical Scientist (Microbiology) Permanent | Full- time | 35 hours p/w (immediate start) The National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh (NOHC) has 37 Orthopaedic Surgeons and is Ireland’s largest dedicatedOrthopaedic centre,thenationalreferralcentreforpostprostheticjointinfections,Ireland’sprimary referralcentreforboneandsofttissuetumours, andthededicatedsurgicalcentrefortheNationalSarcoma Service.NOHCalsoprovides orthopaediconcology,rehabilitation,rheumatologyandpaediatricservices,and sportsand exercisemedicine.HometotheNationalBoneBank,theHospitalisaffiliatedwithRCSI,UCD and DCUasateachingcentre.Moreover,weundertakeexcitingresearchincollaboration withacademic partners, peers, scientists, engineers and industry. The Microbiology Department at NOHC processes approximately 30,000 samples per annum and is accredited to ISO 15189:2022. The Microbiology Department also provides Pathology services to an external private hospital as well as the National and Regional Bone Banks, and is licensed as a Tissue Establishment (2004/23/EC) by the Health Products Regulatory Authority. The Microbiology Department is well equipped with technology/instrumentation; Winpath LIS, Vitek 2, BacT/ALERT and GeneXpert.
