General Manager
Role Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, the General Manager carries full responsibility for Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in achieving strategic and operational targets, driving technical excellence, improving reliability and efficiency, and developing people and systems across the site. The General Manager will be a visible champion for the site and the business in the wider community. Roles and Responsibilities • Engineering - Ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability of all production equipment. - Lead automation initiatives and implement advanced technologies to increase productivity. - Oversee major capital projects including feasibility, specification, installation, and commissioning. - Monitor and manage OEE and drive system-level engineering improvements. - Collaborate across maintenance, engineering, and production to deliver world-class manufacturing performance. • Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) - Promote a safety-first culture with rigorous adherence to procedures. - Share best practice across departments and ensure compliance across all SHEQ areas. • Production - Manage performance against budget using KPIs. - Drive efficiency, standardisation, and continuous improvement across operations. - Liaise with internal stakeholders including forestry and sales to align operations with business goals. • Continuous Improvement & Capital Projects - Implement lean techniques and technology-driven improvements. - Lead capex planning and ensure timely delivery of high-value strategic projects. • Financial Control - Develop and manage operational budgets. - Analyse financial reports and ensure best-value procurement. • Leadership - Lead and develop high-performing teams. - Mentor managers and support employee development. - Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence. An exciting opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team within ChildVision About the Role: ChildVision's Reading Services is a national service that transcribes educational material for all students with a registered visual impairment, in primary and secondary education, in both mainstream and special schools across Ireland. We transcribe school books into a variety of accessible formats including braille, large print, digital and 3D. We currently have a vacancy for an administrator, this role will ensure the efficient running of administrative tasks within the department. This is an exciting opportunity to work in within a team that provides accessible formats to visually impaired students across the country. Reading Services also supports a Children's and Resource Library service and Assistive Technology use with our students. The successful candidate will also be required to fulfil some transcription work when time allows. This role will also provide reception cover for the main ChildVision campus. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service and create a positive first impression. They will greet and assist visitors, parents and students, answer phone calls, handle inquiries alongside administrative duties. Our Biochip team manufacture products for use across our Biochip Array Technology Analysers including Evidence, Investigator, MultiStat and Evolution. Contract Offered : Full-time, permanent. Some temporary roles are also available. Working Hours / Shifts : Hours can vary depending on what team you work in. Standard hours are 7am to 5.40pm, 4 days per week. However, night shifts may also be required. What does the Production Operator role involve? The role of Production Operator will be working on the production of the Randox Biochip Array products. Key duties: • Calibration and maintenance of equipment • The operation and troubleshooting of automated production lines involved in the assembly of instrument specific Biochip Array products. • The accurate completion of manufacturing and stock records. • Completion and recording of manufacturing outputs for KPIs • The cleaning down of machines and the work area in accordance with standard operating procedures. • Monitoring of the cleanroom environment to process defined specifications • Assisting in the training of staff in departmental procedures and systems. • The alerting of the Biochip formulation Team Leader and Manager to any problems in the manufacture or testing of Biochip products and highlighting any non-conformances • Accurate identification and removal of rejected biochips during assembly process • High quality sealing and accurate labelling of Biochip Array products Who can apply?
