The overall objective of this post is to assist the Principal Medical Officer in carrying out the community medical services function within a designated integrated services area. The Senior Medical Officer working in the Department of Community Health will carry out the range of duties allocated by the Principal Medical Officer within a designated Care Group at Community Care level. Working within the Department of Community Health the SMO will work closely with other SMO’s, Managers of Care Groups, and Heads of Discipline. The Department of Community Health will provide a range of medical services in the areas of Child and Adolescent Health, Immunisations, Services for Older Persons and those with Physical, Sensory and Learning Disabilities. An SMO will be assigned to provide services within a defined care group or groups.

Purpose of the post: The post holder is expected to demonstrate team leadership and management in the maintenance and development of a high-quality service to the unit. The post holder will: Direct, co-ordinate and provide a high quality, evidence-based nursing service in a multidisciplinary environment. Roster and supervise staff, teach and train nursing and support staff and ensure the economic management of resources. Take responsibility for the co-ordination of workload and the assignment of staff to assist the day to day running of the unit. Enable the training and development of nursing staff in the provision of safe and effective practice through team leadership, management and practical expertise. Develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care, set standards of care and review and update nursing policies and procedures based on current and sound research. Maintain effective communication and professional relationships within the nursing, multi-disciplinary teams and clinical support services to ensure that a cohesive effective service is provided within the unit. Knowledge Manager – Learning Resource Centre and Library Grade VI Permanent Part-Time (21hours per week) We are seeking a motivated and values-driven individual to manage and develop a small, inclusive resource and library service within a disability support setting. This role offers a unique opportunity to support staff, service users, and families by providing access to accessible information, learning resources, and evidence-based materials that enhance quality of care and promote person-centred practice. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting service delivery in line with standards set by the Health Information and Quality Authority, the Health Service Executive, and the SMH Strategic Plan. ABOUT: St. Michael’s House (SMH) provides services and support to people with disabilities, primarily with intellectual disabilities (ID) and/or Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and their families and supporters in the greater Dublin area. Currently, we provide a range of services and supports to over 2300 service users, including 1366 children with complex needs. We employ over 1800 staff across a range of roles and grades; direct support workers, social care workers and leaders, persons in charge, nurses, doctors, managers, clinical staff, administration, ICT, transport, education and training and maintenance.
