Position Title: Cleaning Staff (27.5 hrs per week) Reports To: Office Manager Job Summary: The Cleaning Staff member is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and orderly environment for all staff and visitors. This includes performing a variety of cleaning duties, ensuring all areas are well-maintained, and adhering to health and safety standards. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities: · General Cleaning: o Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in designated areas o Dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture, and fixtures. o Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors. o Empty bins and recycling bins and transport waste to designated disposal areas. · Specialised Cleaning: o Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors. o Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, and handrails. · Stock and Inventory Management: o Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper. o Report any shortages or needed repairs to team members and office manager. · Safety and Maintenance: o Adhere to all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. o Handle and store cleaning chemicals safely and according to instructions. · Other Duties: o Set up or take down tables and chairs for events as needed. o Perform deep cleaning tasks on a scheduled basis. o Assist with other duties as assigned by the office manager. Staff Nurse Hospice
The Registered General Nurse works as part of the Inpatient unit hospice based team. Staff will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to the highest professional and ethical standards within the model of nursing care practiced in the Hospice setting. The General Nurse will provide holistic, person centred care, promoting optimum independence and enhancing the quality of life for clients. The successful candidate will help to ensure that a caring environment is achieved within the ward, contributing to the highest possible quality of nursing care. North West Hospice provides specialist palliative care with compassion for those living with life-limiting illness in our communities in Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal and West Cavan – a catchment area of approximately 115,000 persons. The Inpatient unit also admits patients that need our service from outside these counties due to its physical location on the Sligo University Hospital campus. The team includes 3 Consultants in Palliative Medicine, medical, nursing, social work, occupational therapy and physiotherapy staff. We also provide pastoral care, complimentary therapies, and a wide range of volunteer services.These services are provided via the Inpatient unit, Community palliative care and Hospital Palliative Care Services. The North West Hospice is managed by the Operational Management Committee which is made up of the Operational Lead, Consultant in Palliative Medicine (Clinical Lead) and the Director of Nursing (DON). The service is currently provided in the following settings: In-Patient Unit The 7-bed Inpatient Unit – this Unit has seven beds (three single rooms and a five-bed area).The nursing team is made up of a CNM2, CNM1, S/Ns and HCAs. A new Inpatient Unit with 12 all single rooms is due to commence construction in Q1 2026 on the same site. The service will continue to operate from the current site for the duration of the new build. Community Palliative Care Team The Community Palliative Care Team works across the North-West, visiting patients in their own homes or other care settings such as nursing homes or community hospitals. The nursing team is made up of a CNM3 and CNSs/RGN. Hospital Palliative Care Team The Hospital Palliative Care Team are based in North West Hospice campus and provides palliative care to patients at Sligo University Hospital and their families, and provides supportto the hospital’s medical and nursing teams. The nursing team has 2 WTE CNS’s. The additional services provided and integrated across all aspects of the services are Bereavement, Education, Spiritual and Volunteer
