Pharmacist Senior, University Hospital
Details of the Service The Pharmacy department purchases and dispenses medicines for CUH and CUMH. We aim to ensure safe, effective and economical use of medicines and support education, training and practice-based research. The department consists of pharmacists, pharmaceutical technicians, clerical staff and porters. CUH is the Regional Cancer Centre of the South /South West Hospital Group. The Pharmacy Aseptic compounding unit (ACU) provides an aseptic compounding service for provision of cytotoxic drugs to the relevant wards and departments within the cancer directorate. Senior Pharmacists manage and oversee the manufacture and release of compounded and purchased cytotoxic products from the Pharmacy Aseptic Compounding Unit. They also provide a clinical pharmacy service to the inpatient haematology and oncology wards and the out-patient day unit. The purpose of this post is: Cork University Hospitals Group (CUHG) is the HSE statutory acute hospital provider for Cork. The group comprises 3 acute hospitals, Cork University Hospital Wilton (Model 4), Mallow General Hospital (Model 2) and Bantry General Hospital (Model 2R), 2 community inpatient units (St. Finbarr’s Hospital Rehabilitation Unit and Riverstick Transitional Care Unit). Cork University Hospital is the largest statutory / HSE hospital in Ireland and the only Model 4 (Specialist Academic Teaching) Hospital in the state with all acute surgical and medical specialities integrated on the same campus (Adults, Paediatrics, Maternity and Mental Health).
