Key Purpose of the Post To undertake a range cleaning duties, the facility welcomes a large number of visitors each year, the postholder will ensure the facility is clean, tidy and well-kept. Main Duties of the Post • A range of cleaning activities throughout the site including the reception area, toilets (male and female), museum galleries and part of the external courtyard. • Polish fixtures, fittings and furniture. • Cleaning of mirrors and internal windows. • Clean, wash and sweep all areas with initiative and as directed • Collect and dispose of all litter from receptacles inside and outside the building. • Clean, wash and sweep all areas as directed, including shop area, exhibition area, reception, offices etc • Vacuum and polish designated areas using the appropriate equipment and materials. • Empty vacuum bags and clean filters. • Deep clean and polish stairwells. • Assist, when required, with arrangements for events and functions e.g. setting up equipment, arranging rooms for functions, etc • Any other duties relevant to the post which may be allocated. General: • To comply with all the Council’s policies and procedures including the Employee Code of Conduct and the Employee and Councillor Working Relationship Protocol. • To ensure full compliance with all Health and Safety at Work legislation in accordance with the Council’s Health and Safety at Work policy and all associated procedures and guidance and to be an advocate for high standards of Health and Safety performance. • To promote the Council’s equal opportunities policies and avoid all forms of discrimination as an employer and a service provider. • To implement all Financial and Procurement policies and procedures. • To comply with employee responsibility in relation to all records held, created, or used as part of the Council’s business. The above list should not be seen as an exhaustive list of duties, and the postholder will be expected to undertake other relevant duties, as required. Essential Criteria: A minimum of 6 months relevant cleaning experience Experience using various chemicals, and electrical cleaning equipment A working knowledge of health and safety requirements in carrying out cleaning duties Ability to work as part of a team and ability to communicate with the public Desirable Criteria A minimum of 12 months relevant cleaning experience in a public building.
