CFO
Chief Financial Officer (CFO) About Life Scientific At Life Scientific, we’re doing things differently - very differently. We’ve disrupted a $250 billion market and are on a mission to become the world’s most successful crop protection innovator. Backed by InVivo, the largest co-operative group in Europe, we’re scaling fast and globally - and we’re just getting started. Our business is deeply human, powered by shared leadership, sharp minds, and a sense of fun. We combine the pace of a startup with the strength of a scale-up. No politics. No passengers. Just passionate people doing great work. The Opportunity This is not your traditional CFO role. We’re looking for a sharp, commercially minded leader who thrives in the real world - not the theoretical one. Someone who can balance strategy with sleeves-rolled-up execution. Who loves the challenge of scaling, streamlining, and steering a business through growth, change and complexity. You won’t inherit a perfect system, and that’s the point. We want someone who sees that as an opportunity, not a problem. Someone who’s hungry to build, lead, and challenge the status quo. You’ll have the freedom and support to reimagine the finance function - organise it for scale, trim the fat, and embed world-class practices that empower the wider business. This role is for you if you are... • At your peak, not winding down. You’ve still got things to prove, and impact to make. • Energised by change, ambiguity and moving at pace. • Able to hold your own in the boardroom, and get into the weeds when needed. • Strategic by nature, but hands-on by instinct. • You don't just run the numbers - you rethink the game. You see how Finance can be a lever, not just a ledger. • A natural communicator who leads with clarity and humanity. • Able to deliver change with empathy and collaboration, not ego. What You’ll Do • Be frank with a bit of charm. We don’t need a finance team that hides behind process—we need one that partners, challenges, and helps the business make better calls. That’s what you’ll build. • Provide strategic financial leadership to the CEO and Executive Team, helping drive decisions that shape our commercial success and global growth and ambition. • Design and deliver a finance structure that is fit for purpose now with a customer focused attitude and future-proofed for scale. • Own FP&A, reporting, modelling and analysis - with a mindset of continuous improvement (and yes, we’re up for “beyond budgeting”). • Oversee multi-jurisdictional finance operations with clarity and rigour. • Champion financial discipline, performance, transparency, and alignment across departments. • Bring a value mindset with critical judgement to investments in research and development, market expansion and new innovations. • Drive tax compliance across all jurisdictions through efficient use of technology and identify opportunities for tax optimisation. • Own risk management, compliance and governance, ensuring we protect our assets and reputation as we grow. • Engage with external advisors, partners, auditors, banks and the Board. • Bring sharp financial insight to support M&A and potential exit or partnership activity in future. • Work as a true business partner - collaborative, curious and commercially driven. What You Bring • You’re a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar) and you've earned your stripes beyond the classroom. • Ideally Big 4 trained, but more importantly, have moved beyond the theoretical and into high-performance environments. • Experience in a scaling or fast-growth company, ideally with exposure to international markets. • A track record of leading finance through change - be that turnaround, transformation, or post-transaction. • Bonus points for experience in life sciences, pharma, agri-tech, chemicals or a similarly complex, product-led business. • Deep understanding of financial strategy, forecasting, risk and control frameworks. • Keen sense of how technology can drive improvements in Finance and throughout the business. • Ability to influence, challenge, and bring clarity across all levels of the business. • Exceptional communication skills. • Ambition, resilience and a sense of humour - you’ll need all three! Why Join Us? Because at Life Scientific, you won’t just be a number - you’ll be a name. You’ll have influence, autonomy, and the chance to shape something special. You’ll help lead an Irish-headquartered company with global ambition, surrounded by people who care deeply about what they do and how they do it. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.
