Carpentry And Joinery Apprenticeship

Established over 40 years ago, the John G Sisk Training Centre trains skilled young apprentices in carpentry and joinery. Consistently recognized in awards at a national level, the 4 year apprenticeship course consists of periods of full-time study, practical workshop experience and exposure to the construction site environment. This training programme is run in conjunction with Solas and leads to the QQI Level 6 Craft Certificate. Many of our leading site agents, foremen and site managers are graduates of this centre. We would like to invite applications for the 2022 Apprentice Carpentry and Joinery intake. Minimum requirements include a successfully completed leaving certificate along with a genuine passion for carpentry and joinery works. This apprenticeship is based at our Training Centre on the Naas Road, Dublin 22.

We are looking for candidates who are innovative, diligent, ambitious, ability to learn on the job, and have very good communication skills. ** JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES** • Machine building and mechanical assembly • Machine high quality precision tooling parts according to engineering drawings provided • Interpreting technical assembly drawings and equipment manuals • Dismantling, repair/rework and fitting of new parts when performing maintenance • Installation of production equipment • Condition monitoring using modern maintenance techniques • Report writing of completed repairs • Commisioning machines/equipment on our customers site from time to time (Ireland and abroad) **REQUIREMENTS** • Comfortable to work individually or as part of a team • Great communication skills: Working closely with the assembly supervisor and the project team • Excellent fault-finding and problem solving skills • Working knowledge and skills in assembly and repairs of mechanical systems such as bearings, gears, belts & pulleys etc. • Experience in pneumatics would be an advantage • To be fully competent with a variety workshop machines such as lathes, manual milling machine, surface grinders, etc. • Attention to detail is essential • A passion/strong interest in engineering is essential
