Plumbing Apprentice
Profile of Craft Plumbing work involves the installation and maintenance of plumbing, heating and mechanical services on domestic, commercial and industrial projects, including houses, schools, hospitals, office blocks, apartment blocks, factories as well as pharmaceutical, chemical, food/drink processing facilities. These installations comprise of a wide range of services including pipefitting, welding, soldering on central heating systems, air handling systems, solar heating, hot and cold water supplies, sanitary appliances and sanitation systems, gas pipelines and appliances, compressed air, fire control, steam, chilled water systems and process pipework. The Transport Operations & Commercial Driving Apprenticeship allows for entry into the Freight Distribution and haulage Sector, with a broad exposure to day to day operations. Apprentices are employed by a Business for the duration of the Programme (2 years) and will earn as they learn! As part of this full-time employment, Apprentices are released one day per week during College (26 weeks per annum) to attend Lectures in ATU Sligo. Metal Fabrication Apprentice
First Year Apprentice Vacancy As a Welder Apprentice, you will learn and develop the skills required to become a proficient welder under the supervision of experienced welders and supervisors. This position provides on-the-job training, allowing you to assist in various welding projects while gaining hands-on experience in welding techniques, safety procedures, and the operation of welding equipment. The successful applicant will be trained at the Central premises as per the Solas apprenticeship programme and college attendance will also be required. Profile of Craft The Metal Fabricator’s job includes the reading of drawings, working with materials such as low carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel and aluminium. The fabricator is involved in such industries as constructional steel, pressure vessel, tank and boiler manufacture, ship building and ship repair also general engineering. The skills required are wide and varied. They include skills such as measuring, marking out, cutting and welding materials using different processes and assembly techniques. The Metal Fabricator will spend some time outdoors and may be required to work on heights. On successful completion of this heavy vehicle Mechanics apprenticeship, the apprentice is awarded a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in the Craft of heavy vehicle Mechanics. Engineering Apprentice
OVERALL ROLE OBJECTIVE: Reporting to the Development Engineering Team Leader and working alongside the Mechanical Development Engineers, the successful candidate will attend training from an agreed Training Provider whilst gaining practical experience in AES over an initial two-year period. A further two-year period will comprise of 4 days per week in Almac in conjunction with day release to allow additional academic training. JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Attend training as specified by the chosen training facilitator. Report to work in engineering department when not attending training. 2. Manufacture of framework components from engineering drawings. 3. Fabrication and assembly of components using hand tools. 4. Modification and repair of components for use in Production. 5. Bench finishing and fitting of components and tooling. 6. Maintain a clean and tidy working environment. 7. Comply with all instructions laid down in the company’s SOP’s and Engineering Procedures. 8. Any other duties deemed appropriate in relation to the position, including working additional hours as requested. QUALIFICATIONS 3 GCSE (or equivalent) passes Grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics (OR working towards an equivalent) KEY SKILLS Good communication skills, verbal and written.
