Overall Role Objective The role is primarily responsible for the leadership and management of the Health and Safety (H&S) function, including the development and oversight of the H&S team and associated management systems. The position requires a strong working knowledge of chemical hazards and chemical manufacturing environments, providing expert advice across the lifecycle of hazardous substances. The role delivers monitoring, assurance and audit oversight to ensure ongoing and future compliance requirements are met, while actively identifying and driving continuous improvement opportunities in chemical safety and process safety across Athlone operations, including interfaces with multiple sites where applicable. It encompasses the prevention, investigation and reporting of accidents and incidents, while proactively promoting a strong and mature safety culture. The role further involves developing, implementing and maintaining H&S and process safety arrangements aligned to COMAH-equivalent standards, applicable legislation and recognised industry best practice, ensuring robust and sustainable regulatory compliance for the Arran site(s). Job Specific Responsibilities Manage Health and Safety activities for the Arran site, including promotion of the safety culture through professional advice, staff development and communication, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and keeping Senior Management informed as necessary.
