Based at our Central Office in Belfast, this full-time role (35 hours per week, 9am–5pm, with some flexibility required) involves regular travel throughout Northern Ireland to deliver both urgent and planned works. Profile of Craft The Metal Fabricator’s job includes the reading of drawings, working with materials such as low carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel and aluminium. The fabricator is involved in such industries as constructional steel, pressure vessel, tank and boiler manufacture, ship building and ship repair also general engineering. The skills required are wide and varied. They include skills such as measuring, marking out, cutting and welding materials using different processes and assembly techniques. The Metal Fabricator will spend some time outdoors and may be required to work on heights. The primary role of an Apprentice Toolmaker is to learn how to operate all machinery needed to produce and maintain precision tools used in the production of metal, plastic, and other material. The work will involve interpreting drawings and technical data to machines and assemble with great accuracy jigs, fixtures, moulding tools, dies and punches. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Willingness to learn and understand how to operate all equipment needed to build and maintain precision tools • Learn and understand how to apply technical data and drawings • Check the work performed using appropriate measuring equipment • Servicing and maintaining relevant equipment • Willingness to continue your education by attending classes offered by Avenue primarily after working hours • Willing to do all tasks assigned including but not limited to delivering parts to vendors if needed, machine maintenance as well as maintaining overall shop appearance. Previous experience (5 years minimum) in a role requiring significant AutoCAD/GIS/Revit expertise is necessary. Design experience in the utilities sector, while being an advantage, will not be essential as on the job training will take place. Main duties include the following; - AutoCAD/GIS/Revit support to TLI Group - Completion where necessary of on-site surveys, survey drawings, architectural & engineering design drawings and work generally associated with the design of grid connections and all associated infrastructure - In executing company work, knowledge of requirements of ISO 9001, ISO14001 & ISO 45001 will be required and previous experience of associated procedures will be a considerable advantage. - Preparation of utility mapping and integration of mapping with GIS systems - Compilation of planning applications & section 5 exemption applications where required - Attendance at meetings remote from TLI Group Head Office if required - Tender Submissions - assistance in relation to document compilation etc - Processing of survey and utility data (2D & 3D) in multiple formats (AutoCAD, GIS, Revit, Civil 3D). Qualifications & Skills Recognised academic training such as a HND or Degree course.
