OVERALL ROLE OBJECTIVE The IS Support Technician’s role is to ensure proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. The post holder serves as an initial point of contact to record incidents and problem resolution through triage and escalation. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user requests. Problem resolution is achieved using approved diagnostic and request tracking tools, mainly by accessing end user machines via remote means. The role requires strong technical troubleshooting abilities and excellent customer service skills. JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES The post holder will: Manage incoming assigned and escalated requests from end users via telephone, e-mail, Service Desk tools, and colleagues in a courteous manner. Build rapport and elicit problem details from Service Desk customers. Prioritize and schedule Service Desk tickets and escalate appropriately to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Record, track, and document the Service Desk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful troubleshooting actions, through to final resolution. Apply diagnostic utilities, Knowledge Bases, frequently asked questions resources on the Internet, and experience to aid in problem resolution. Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
