Project Manager, Audience Development & Stakeholder Engagement
The National Gallery of Ireland is seeking to recruit a Project Manager on a two-year fixed-term contract. Electrical Projects Manager
SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION This position offers an Electrical Projects Manager the opportunity to work as an Electrical Projects Manager in the Road Management Office (RMO) – Public Lighting Unit. The RMO national shared service – Public Lighting Unit provides supports to all 31 Local Authorities in public lighting. Ireland has over 500,000 public lights managed by local authorities, with in excess of 10,000km of cable and ancillary electrical infrastructure, which costs more than €92m to operate each year. The Electrical Projects Manager will play a key role within the Public Lighting Unit focused on asset management of public lighting, the development of standards for lighting and supporting all local authorities in Ireland implementing best practice in the asset management of our Public Lighting Asset. SECTION 2: THE ROLE The Road Management Office, (Cork County Council) is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates with relevant experience for the position of Electrical Projects Manager (analogous to Executive Engineer). The successful candidate(s) will be assigned to the Road Management Office, RMO a national shared service as an Electrical Projects Manager. It is proposed to form a panel of qualified candidates from which any vacancies permanent or temporary which arise will be filled during the lifetime of the panel. The Electrical Projects Manager will report directly to the Lead Engineer Systems and Development, RMO or such person as may be assigned from time to time by Cork County Council. The Electrical Projects Manager will be responsible for the management and delivery of annual work programmes in the assigned role. Road Management Office (RMO) The Road Management Office (RMO) is a Local Government shared service established in 2014 by the County and City Management Association (CCMA) under the aegis of the Department of Transport (DoT). It is operated by Donegal and Cork County Councils, with Donegal as the “nominated local authority” under the 2001 Local Government Act. Vision and Mission Statement for the RMO in its statement of strategy 2025–2030 is: Empowering local government with data driven evidence-based solutions for efficient and sustainable road asset management, while promoting consistency and collaboration with national stakeholders. Through mandated development and implementation of knowledge based systems and procedures, we provide road authorities and sectoral stakeholders with cost effective, high quality services that support implementation of government strategy, their obligations, goals and objectives. The RMO delivers consistent, data-driven and policy-aligned essential services in the areas of road asset management, roadworks licensing and public lighting to a wide range of stakeholders, including all Local Authorities, the Department of Transport (DoT), Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), the National Transport Authority (NTA) and all major utilities. SECTION 3: DUTIES The persons appointed will work as part of a team under the direction and control of the Lead Engineer Systems and Development, RMO or other officer designated by the Director of Roads or the Chief Executive. The duties for the post of Electrical Projects Manager may include but are not limited to the following: Developing an understanding of current Local Authority public lighting practice and developing best practice in public lighting; Developing and implementing solutions for legacy public lighting issues, for example earthing, cabling, unbundling of public lighting and distribution circuits; Providing support to local authorities and other RMO staff in implementing relevant national, international and industry standards for public lighting and associated infrastructure; Development and implementation of documented national processes to support: I. Asset Management Principles for Public Lighting; II. Energy Efficiency of Public Lighting; III. Rationalisation of the Public Lighting network in conjunction with authorities; IV. Implementation of national processes and solutions for works involving ESB; V. Consistency between government policy and public lighting standards and processes; VI. Local authority communication with the public and elected members; Systemising processes through the development of software requirements and assisting in the project management of software vendors; Providing support to Responsible Managers and Live Working Managers working with Public Lighting on ESBN assets; Development of template maintenance contracts and capital projects for lighting; Development of consistent processes for taking in charge of public lighting assets not installed by local authorities including specifications for public lighting installed by developers and others; Providing support to authorities in collating and gathering data and analysis of it; Necessary travelling within Ireland to local authority and stakeholder meetings, site visits, training sessions, conferences, regional workshops etc. as required to deliver the service. SECTION 4: ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA / QUALIFICATIONS Character Each candidate must be of good character. Health Each candidate must be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Education, Training, Experience etc. Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms: (a) hold an honours degree (Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications) in Engineering; (b) have at least five years satisfactory relevant engineering experience; (c) possess a high standard of technical training and experience; and (d) possess a high standard of administrative experience. Required Skillset In the context of the key duties and responsibilities for the post of Electrical Projects Manager listed above, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the following knowledge, experience, skills and competencies: Hold a recognised graduate or post graduate qualification in Electrical Engineering accredited for membership of a professional body in the electrical industry at chartered level. SECTION 9: WORKING HOURS The working hours at present provide for a five-day, thirty-five hour working week. KEY PURPOSE OF THE JOB To support the Digital and Innovation Officer in the delivery of a number of digital transformation projects across the Council. Apprenticeship schemes are a great opportunity to combine learning, training, and work experience. The post holder will be required to complete a Higher-Level Apprenticeship in Business Technology. Key Working Relationships The Grade VIII Human Resources Manager will have key working relationships with the UHK Executive Management Team (EMT), UHK Business Managers, Clinical Directors, Assistant Director of Nursing and UHK Department Heads, UHK Medical Manpower Team, Regional Director of People (RDOP) HSE South West, HR colleagues within the South West Region, and National HR in the delivery of the objectives of this role. Purpose of the Post The post holder is responsible for the delivery and implementation of a range of generalist HR Services within University Hospital Kerry and the provision of expert advice and guidance on HR and ER issues in order to support the achievement of its business objectives. The post holder will also have overall responsibility for Medical Manpower Management in collaboration with the Medical Manpower Manager. Providing guidance on the HSE People Strategy and Regional HR Strategy and policy direction and governance on people-related matters to influence, monitor and support the changing structure and workforce, with a focus on change management, leadership and development support. Civil Engineering Apprentices
SECTION 1: OVERVIEW With a minimum of 3,000 new civil engineers needed to ensure the successful delivery of Project Ireland 2040, the National Development Plan 2026–2035 and Climate Action Plan 2025, an alternative delivery model for civil engineering needed to be developed to entice stronger uptake of the profession. As a profession listed on the critical skills occupation list, additional approaches for recruitment in this field are needed to address challenges in the public sector. To aid in this objective, the technological university sector has engaged with the local authority sector to develop a programme where new entrants to engineering disciplines can gain suitable academic qualifications while also engaging in workplace-based learning. Cork County Council in partnership with Munster Technological University (MTU), is offering an opportunity for a civil engineering apprenticeship. This structured apprenticeship program leads to a Level 6 qualification after two years, with the opportunity to progress to Level 7 with one additional year of study. There is also a potential pathway to Level 8, offering a full progression route in civil engineering. This is an exciting new initiative, creating an alternative career path to the civil engineering profession in Ireland based on an earn and learn model. The civil engineering apprenticeship programme is planned to be transformational, and, over time, bridge the shortfall in supply of engineers in Ireland, providing those skills critical to the delivery of Project Ireland 2040. Designed to develop the skills, knowledge and competencies to meet the future needs of the industry, this programme will appeal to those seeking to build a career in civil engineering. SECTION 2: THE ROLE This apprenticeship would suit candidates with a strong interest in civil engineering, construction and infrastructure. The role provides an opportunity to combine structured academic study with practical, on-the-job learning in a local authority environment. Civil engineering apprentices will be assigned to the Capital Delivery Directorate, Housing Directorate, Planning & Environment Directorate or Roads, Transportation & Area Services Directorate. SECTION 3: TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES The post holder may be required to perform other tasks/responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the relevant mentor or Director of Service. Additionally, apprentices will attend on-campus labs/workshops in MTU one full day (8 hours) every three weeks. During the period between June and August each year, when there are no online lectures or on-campus labs/workshops, the working week is a 35-hour week , Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All hours worked will be subject to the provisions of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 and the Organisation of Working Time Act (Regulations) 2001 . SECTION 9: ANNUAL LEAVE The annual leave entitlement will be 22 working days per annum . Cork County Council's leave year runs from 1 January to 31 December . The granting of annual leave at any particular time is always subject to the requirements of the Council and all annual leave is liable to suspension during periods of exceptional work pressure. Granting of annual leave, payment for annual leave and arrangements for public holidays will be governed by the provisions of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 (as amended) .

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POST The purpose of the role is the day-to-day running of the Cork Furniture Shop whilst motivating and encouraging staff and volunteers to help achieve sales targets. DUTIES • Manage and develop the Furniture Shop in the context of an agreed work plan and agreed financial targets. • Recruit, train and appraise shop staff, both paid and voluntary. • Source high quality stock. • Ensure there are adequate staffing levels in the shop at all times. • Ensure the appearance of the shop internally and externally is attractive to customers and in line with brand standards. • Be responsible for merchandise, its security and its preparation for sale and display. • Maintain accurate management and information systems. • Ensure the shop is stocked with adequate information and leaflets on Enable Ireland services, staff are briefed accordingly and queries from the public are dealt with in an efficient and sensitive manner. • Be responsible for full implementation of Enable Ireland Health & Safety policy in the shop. • Be vigilant and comply with any Health & Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager. • Participate in the efficient flow of information within the organisation by sharing and seeking information as appropriate. • Undertake other duties as may be requested by the line manager from time to time. • Assist and support other Enable Ireland shops if and when required. • Undertake your work in a manner that is friendly, flexible and informal. • Complete all administration and financial work in accordance with Enable Ireland Policies and Procedures. • Contribute to good teamwork by sharing knowledge and skills and supporting colleagues to ensure that the Furniture Shop runs efficiently and effectively.
