Where required, assist them by advocating on their behalf or to access the independent advocacy services. • Actively promote the participation of individuals in their own care, and encourage as much independence as possible. Where required, carry out assigned and delegated responsibilities involving direct care and all activities of daily living i.e. to assist individuals to maintain standards of personal hygiene, dietary intake, physical, mental health and any other personal needs. • Assist the individual in the selection and preparation of meals to ensure a healthy nutritional balance. • As required, assist individuals with budgeting, banking and management of their personal finances, ensuring individuals monies are accounted for and recorded as appropriate. • Be aware of the person’s ongoing health needs and assisting with them where required. Contribute in a respectful and positive way to the person’s wellbeing and development. Quality and Safety The Support Worker will: • Work within own role, adhering to current legislation, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines. Adhere to the Health Care Act 2007 Regulations within your work location. • Undertake assigned duties under the direction of the line manager/ team lead in such a way as to ensure that care is of a high standard • Report all complaints in accordance with service policy • Ensure that all records in relation to individuals supported by the services are up to date, correctly filed and managed as per the services records management procedure/ system. • Ensure all actions support the enhancement of a person-centred service and a person-centred culture within the team • Co-operate with quality reviews/ service evaluations and assist with the implementation of any necessary corrective action. Health & Safety: The Support Worker will: • Be conscious of Health & Safety matters in the workplace and, in particular, to comply with employees’ obligations as set out under Section 9 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005. Ensure that the procedures set out in the Safety Statement are implemented at all times. • Become familiar with and practise fire drill procedures within places of work, i.e. fire detection, evacuation and firefighting. • Use any equipment provided in a safe and responsible manner. • Utilise service transport as per the organisation’s Safe Driving for Work procedure. Report any faults as they arise. • Understand and adhere to all relevant Corlann policies, guidelines, and procedures, comply with health and safety, infection control and risk management procedures; and comply with statutory obligations. • Report any accidents, near misses, incident or potential incident to the person in charge which may compromise the health and safety of people supported by the service, staff or visitors and take appropriate action including completion of accident/ incident forms on the online OLIS system (including for near miss incidents). • Only undertake any duty related to individual’s care for which you are trained. • Maintain a strict code of personal and general hygiene in the workplace as per the employee handbook and existing policies and procedures. • Present to work wearing the agreed attire, footwear, and identification, having regard to the highest standard of attire and personal hygiene. This includes not having possession of personal mobile phones while delivering care to people supported. • Conduct yourself in a manner that ensures safe individual care. Participate in maintaining a safe environment for people supported, visitors and staff by ensuring vigilance in identifying potential hazards and by taking the necessary steps to remove such hazards. • It is your duty to report any concerns you have for the safety and welfare of the people we support to your Manager immediately in line with Trust in Care (2005). You are also legally obliged to comply with the Criminal Justice (Withholding of Information on Offences Against Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act, 2012. Education & Training The Support Worker will: • Attend induction and mandatory training, so that you fully understand and work with all the procedures and guidelines within the organisation. Pass assessments associated with training. • As directed, participate in the induction of new staff. • Participate in team based development, education, training and learning. • Participate in supervision and performance reviews in conjunction with his / her line manager. Communication and Teamwork: The Support Worker will: • Operate in accordance with the values of Corlann. The Commercial Motor Industry The servicing, maintenance, repair and installation of the mechanical and electrical equipment of commercial vehicles. At the end of the apprenticeship, the craftsperson will be able to demonstrate competence in the following skills: • Servicing: Carry out manufacturer’s service schedule. Complete a vehicle report form • Engine: Carry out compression tests. Remove/overhaul cylinder heads. Apprenticeship Overview This is an entry-level Electrical Apprenticeship and Trainee ATEX Inspector role. Successful candidates will be enrolled in an apprenticeship programme designed to develop the skills, experience and competencies required to become a qualified electrician and ATEX Inspector. During the apprenticeship, you will receive a combination of: • Classroom-based education • Paid on-the-job training • Structured mentoring from experienced inspectors and engineers • Practical exposure to real industrial environments Apprentices will receive training in the: • Installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of wiring systems for industrial applications • Inspection of electrical equipment in non-hazardous areas • Inspection and verification of equipment and installations in potentially explosive atmospheres • Development of technical inspection competence, reporting skills and industry knowledge This role offers exposure to specialist industrial work that few entry-level opportunities can provide. Location and Flexibility The apprenticeship is primarily based in the Dublin and Cork areas, with work carried out throughout Ireland and, at times, further afield. Candidates must be flexible with working hours when required.
