You will:<ul><li>Be supported and mentored by our senior IT team in Dublin and Cork.</li><li>Be involved in planning and implementing changes and improvements to all areas of technology on your campus.</li><li>Be encouraged to grow your own skills while improving the services we offer to staff and learners.</li><li>Work closely with the wider IT team, sharing ideas and knowledge across:</li></ul>This role offers both autonomy, mastery, and purpose, with strong mentoring from senior staff as you develop.Job Responsibilities:You will be responsible for service desk support and systems administration for all IT requirements of the College on the Limerick campus.The role is part of the College's IT Services team, and while your primary responsibility is the Limerick campus, you will also:<ul><li>Provide remote support to all campuses via the main IT phone lines and central ticketing queues.</li><li>Work closely with senior system administrators and colleagues in Dublin and Cork.</li><li>Contribute to shared projects, standards and documentation across all locations.</li></ul> Typical responsibilities include Directory &amp; cloud services<ul><li>Administration of Active Directory, Group Policies, Microsoft 365, SharePoint</li><li>Management of MS DHCP &amp; DNS, terminal services/remote access</li></ul>Servers, networking &amp; infrastructure <ul><li>Maintenance of the physical network environment:</li><li>Development and maintenance of data/service availability systems:</li></ul>Security &amp; patching<ul><li>Application of security updates and patches to servers and clients as required</li><li>Assisting in maintaining secure configurations and responding to security incidents</li></ul>Desktop, classroom &amp; end‑user support<ul><li>Resolving operational problems relating to: o Servers, PCs, printers, data communications and application software</li><li>Maintenance of classroom A/V equipment:</li></ul>Monitoring, scripting &amp; documentation <ul><li>Monitoring and measuring operational performance (e.g. Graylog, Netdata, Nagios)</li><li>Maintenance and development of in‑house scripts (e.g. PowerShell)</li><li>Documenting tasks, policies and SOPs</li><li>Preparing operational reports as required</li></ul>Working environmentYou will work with:<ul><li>Servers - Windows and Linux</li><li>Client devices – Windows laptops and desktop computers</li><li>Network &amp; security</li><li>Cisco switches</li><li>Fortinet firewalls</li><li>Classroom A/V, Panasonic projectors, Crestron control equipment</li><li>Printers</li></ul>Required skills &amp; experienceA suitable candidate will have at least 2+ years’ experience in most of the following technologies:<ul><li>Microsoft &amp; desktop</li><li>MS Windows desktops and servers</li><li>Active Directory &amp; Group Policy</li><li>WSUS</li><li>Printer maintenance</li><li>Networking</li><li>Strong understanding of TCP/IP</li><li>Experience with MS DNS &amp; DHCP administration</li><li>Basic switch configuration</li><li>Wi‑Fi configuration</li></ul>Personal attributesWe’re looking for people who:<ul><li>Provide excellent customer service and communicate clearly with non‑technical users</li><li>Have strong organisational and problem‑solving skills</li><li>Have excellent written and verbal English‑language communication</li><li>Are flexible team players who can adapt to a changing environment and work with colleagues across Limerick, Limerick and Dublin</li><li>Are self‑motivated and quick to learn</li><li>Demonstrate strong attention to detail</li></ul>Desirable (but not essential) skills Knowledge of any of the following would be beneficial, but is not required:<ul><li>Moodle VLE</li><li>ITIL v3 or v4 certification</li><li>Linux (Postfix, Bind, Apache etc.)</li><li>Scripting (any of PHP, Perl, Python, Bash, VB, PowerShell etc.)</li><li>Firewalls</li><li>macOS (OSX)</li><li>Backup solutions (Bacula or other enterprise‑scale systems)</li><li>Systems management / monitoring (Nagios, Graylog, Grafana)</li></ul>Training and development Candidates who do not yet meet all of the technical requirements may still be considered.
