You will be a member of a multi-disciplined team using holistic approaches to support Depaul service users. Working to a housing-led, low threshold, harm reduction approach, where service users receive a high degree of support and advice. The aim of the role is to support and signpost service users into services that will improve their housing, health and wellbeing while improving the service users quality of life. This is achieved through the provision of engagement and individualised support plans, targeted interventions, signposting and group work. Service user focus To provide service user support in a person-led manner, which is both professional and respectful. Assess the safety and wellbeing needs of the service user and develop plans which address and reduce identified risks. In partnership with service users, to assess their needs and develop support plans, which are flexible and respond to the changing needs of the service users. To work with service users and relevant external agencies in order to deliver meaningful and effective key working To support service users to integrate with their communities in line with good neighbourhood principals. To advocate on behalf of service users to achieve the best outcomes for them. Essential Criteria A formal Level 3 qualification in a social care field, e.g. diploma in health and social care or equivalent and at least 2 years paid relevant work experience OR At least 3 years paid relevant work experience and 3 formal qualifications at Level 2 to include Math and English, e.g. GCSE’s or NVQ AND Ability to work on a rota basis Essential: a full driving license and full access to a car insured for business purposes. Facility Services Assistant
Purpose and Function of Post To provide a general housekeeping service including cleaning and caretaking duties within the Council Offices, and Council Depot building, Ballyronan Road, Magherafelt in order that it is kept and maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and service, whilst providing support to services by way of housekeeping arrangements through the provision of hospitality for meetings and engagements within the buildings. Principal Duties and Tasks Performed: 1. General facility cleaning duties to tidy and dust offices and public areas of the building, vacuuming, including periodically cleaning of the areas not in public use including display cabinets and other offices. 2. Clean toilet facilities on a daily basis, replenish stock, empty bins and mop floors. 3. Prepare, clean, set up and set down rooms for meetings and functions within the building extending to room layout, screens where required and seating arrangements 4. Responsible for the emptying of bins from offices and rooms throughout the building 5. Maintain, keep an inventory and storage of cleaning agents, chemicals and other equipment as required within the secure areas for same. To arrange for orders to be placed for replacement stock. 6. Responsible for (i) weekly flush of water system in line with legionella control requirements and (ii) fire alarm system weekly checks, maintaining records of same. 7. Set up, review and maintain records of cleaning equipment and materials within the building identifying and registering signs of wear and tear requiring the attention of property services through line management and established system for logging issues. 8. Maintain and keep to a high standard entrance(s) to the building, ensuring they remain free from litter and glass cleaned. 9. Provide housekeeping duties for meetings including set-up, and providing tea and coffee as required, followed by room set down preparing the room for the next meeting or engagement 10. Assist, as required, in the provision of tea and coffee for corporately organised staff events or initiatives within the building. 11. Responsible for keeping the staff kitchens facilities clean and tidy, ensuring checks at intervals throughout the day particularly throughout and after staff breaks and lunch. 12. Maintain stock control records to undertake stock control of kitchen, cleaning supplies, kitchen crockery, equipment and utensils. 13. Ensure the maintenance of and safe usage of staff kitchens by council staff, caterers and others. Where faults occur, these are recorded appropriately. 14. Undertake day-to-day porterage duties as required to meet the needs of Council Services. 15. Act as keyholder for facility (including attendance at emergency and out-of-hours alarm call outs and will be responsible for maintaining associated records). Ensure in the morning that gates and building are open and in the evening that lights and appropriate equipment are switched off, windows, doors, gates are closed, offices are secure and alarm system is activated. 16. May be required on occasions to service evening meetings/functions. 17. Act in accordance with the Code of Conduct for Local Government employees. Grounds Maintenance Team Lead
MAIN PURPOSE OF POST 1. Supervise the small works team in horticulture, gardening and general grounds maintenance works in Council facilities, public parks, sports grounds and similar open spaces, to the standards required. 2. To present a courteous attitude at all times by assisting with the promotion of good working relationships between Council staff and members of the public. 3. Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements. 4. Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 5. Supervise the team by giving instruction, assistance, support and training within your remit to team members and others in performance of duties and responsibilities with emphasis on Health and Safety. Includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, working at heights, ensuring adherence to risk assessments, method statements and where necessary, completing dynamic on-the-job risk assessments. Also assist in identifying training needs. 6. Contribute to the maximisation of productivity through the effective planning and organisation of manpower, plant and materials. 7. Responsible for ensuring that the team under their direction carry out grounds maintenance schedules in a timely manner. 8. Assist the supervisor to complete all necessary paperwork eg weekly timesheets, accident report forms, vehicle/plant log books, inspection records, work schedule, work schedules, memorial approvals, dynamic Risk Assessment, chemical applications etc. 9. Deputise for supervisor as necessary e.g. to cover holidays or short term absence. 10. Supervise and undertake a comprehensive range of multi-skilled practical tasks associated with the daily maintenance of grounds, preparation and marking out all sports/playing surfaces using appropriate methods and equipment. In the absence of the Supervisor, order and quantify appropriate materials when required. 11. Ensure grass is cut to specified standards in both sports and non-sports locations. 12. Operate grounds maintenance machinery such as ride-on mowers, power tools, tractors and associated plant ensuring the safe use of resources/machinery necessary in performance of all work. Includes safe operation, daily/weekly/monthly operational checks and servicing and ensuring all vehicles are cleaned and maintained inside and outside. 13. Drive applicable Council vehicles including vans and lorries and other mechanical plant up to relevant C1+E licence. Complete and maintain daily records sheets relative to the operation of the vehicle. Ensure all vehicles are cleaned and maintained inside and outside on a daily basis. 14. Supervise general grounds tasks, including turf care, planting, shrub and tree pruning, removal of grass cuttings, leaves and litter etc. 15. Supervise the seeding, propagation, planting, mulching, tending and weeding of flower and shrub beds. 16. Supervise the use of, where appropriate, chemical weed control, complying with manufacturers’ instructions and COSHH regulations. 17. Supervise the maintenance of hard/soft landscaping, eg edging of paths and paved areas. 18. Oversee the erection, inspection, maintenance and dismantling of sports and play equipment. 19. Undertake construction labouring work and the safe operation of a range of assorted tools and equipment, including the erection and/or repair of fencing and path laying. 20. Responsible for ensuring that staff under their control safely use appropriate plant/machinery necessary in performance of all work. Includes safe operation, daily/weekly operational checks (oil/water) and ensuring same are kept clean and serviceable. 21. Cemetery duties including: ensuring correct location of grave (referring to maps and other records) setting out, excavating, re-opening, exhuming, digging (mechanical/hand), attend committals, backfill and aftercare (sowing/turfing/grass cutting) of graves. 22. As required, work flexibly with other works teams (outside of grounds maintenance) to ensure delivery of all Council services eg supporting delivery of Council events (including stewarding) and erection, inspection and minor repairs of festive lighting. 23. Support other agencies (in times of emergency) by eg filling, delivery and placing of sand bags in flooded areas or snow clearance from footpaths. 24. Cleaning, litter picking and general housekeeping duties. 25. Report all accidents and near misses which may occur and report all incidents of damage to Council property/equipment. 26. In circumstances when littering is observed during the course of their duties record details of the incident and pass the information to the Supervisor. 27. Carry out duties in all weather conditions unless it is felt health and safety is being compromised. GENERAL 28. By its nature the post will require flexible working to meet the needs of the service.
