Fáilte Community Services provides a range of community-based servicesfor people supported in Galway City and county. People are supported in various types of settings to include their homes, in the community, community outreach centres, supported employment, training and education, in groups or as an individualised service. Our Services are person-centred, focusing on the needs and abilities of adults with an intellectual disability, some may also experience mental health challenges and or autism. FCS supports people through a variety of life circumstances, offering assistance when situations become complex or challenging. Many of those we support wish to live independently and access education, work/leisure activities and community services for young adults graduating from school or training programmes as well as those needing support with; making informed choices, daily life issues, relationships and health and well-being. The people we support have been consulted in the type of candidate they require and they have identified someone who “must have a passion for supporting out Rights”, and, “must respect us at all times” The Community Outreach Worker links with various local and state agencies, at times as the first point of contact, supporting them in their day to day lives. Location: FÁILTE COMMUNITY SERVICES is a Community Outreach service based from offices in Fáilte House, Ballybane, Galway, this job location may change depending on the needs of the service. THE ROLE: The Community Outreach Facilitator will provide a key-working supportive role and assist in the delivery of community support to individuals. Responsibilities include Upskilling, Advocacy, Daily Living Supports, Education, Employment Support, External Agency interaction, Health and Wellbeing promotion and Lone Working. The role requires the ability to use your own initiative and work independently whilst adopting a person-centred, integrative approach. A vital part of our Community Outreach worker role is developing a community profile through; researching the local area, linking with local organisations and clubs, liaising with educational and training bodies and building positive and lasting relationships with all public and private services who assist the individuals we support to live independent lives in their communities. FÁILTE COMMUNITY SERVICES focuses on upskilling and advocacy and adopts a model of service provision in line with this. A critical component of this role is to support and encourage individuals supported by FÁILTE COMMUNITY SERVICES to participate and integrate with their community. The role also includes designated duties, in accordance with Corlann policies and procedures, and to be a proactive member of the FÁILTE COMMUNITY SERVICES Team. Reporting To: Team Leader/Service Co-ordinator/Area Manager Qualifications/Experience/Skills: · A full clean Driving Licence (Class B) is an essential requirement of this post. · Experience in the area of housing, addiction, mental health supports, is desirable. Working Hours: 78 hours per fortnight which will include working days, evenings, weekends and public holidays. The service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours in order to ensure service needs are met. Annual Leave: 23 days per annum (pro rata for part time) Remuneration: Department of Health Instructor/Supervisor salary scales as at 01/06/2026 apply: €36,291 x 13 increments - €52,406 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous public sector service. Additional payments will be made for unsociable hours, weekends, public holidays and night duty when worked. Tenure: These posts are permanent full-time and pensionable. Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. Employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period maybe extended at the Employer’s discretion. Travel/Base: The person appointed must provide his/her own car and must furnish an indemnity from Insurers in favour of the employer. Travelling expenses at the appropriate rate will be paid in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge of duty. The base for this purpose will be Fáilte House, Ballybane, Co Galway.
