Location: Clarin service is a developing community-based day and residential service in East Galway environs. We provide individualised services, centre-based and community-based day and residential service to adults with high support needs, based on personal outcome measures. We strive to provide an excellent service, integrating the community as much as possible into the daily lives of the people supported by the services. The Role: To provide clinical nursing skills in supporting people with intellectual disabilities in achieving optimum level of independence. To exhibit and maintain the highest quality of nursing practice and apply their skills to ensure the physical, social, emotional needs of the people supported by the services in their care are addressed at all times. Be responsible for the provision of nursing care and be an informed resource for educating support workers and family members, which shall benefit people supported by the services. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/ Service Co-ordinator / Area Manager. Works With: The people supported by the services and their families and carers Team Leader and other managers Multidisciplinary staff Qualifications: A current Live Register Certificate with the NMBI (An Bord Altranais), RNID qualification is highly desirable. A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement. Experience: Candidates must have a level of experience sufficient to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with an intellectual disability. Experience of working with people with challenging behaviour is an advantage. Skills: Candidates must demonstrate: • Good judgement, discretion and confidentiality • The ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms, to communicate appropriately with the people we support and sensitively with family members. • Creative problem solving skills • The ability to work independently and seek support from interdisciplinary colleagues as appropriate. • Patience, flexibility, creativity and eagerness to become involved in a range of activities. • Ability to educate other staff and family members in positive health promotion needs • The successful candidate will be required to co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy, participate in person-centred planning, reviews, team meetings, attend and participate in training courses, and be an active member of the team. Working Hours: Permanent and Temporary, full-time 75 hours a fortnight All posts are based on a 14 day/night duty roster. The successful candidate will be required to be completely flexible and will be required to work days, evenings, weekends, public holidays, night duty and programme hours to meet service needs. The enhanced nurse may be required to undertake other duties appropriate to the position and within their scope of practice including deputising for the Team Leader in their absence. The post holder will provide advice and clinical support to work colleagues at evenings and weekends throughout the Clarin Services. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: 24 days per annum pro rata. Appropriate service related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years’ service respectively. Remuneration: Department of Health salary scales as at 01/03/2025 apply: Staff Nurse - € 36,919 x 11 increments - € 53,340 pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment € 54,928 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. *Enhanced Nurse – € 43,872 x 7 increments - € 55,093 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). Location: Clarin service provides a number of community based residential and day services in and around Clarinbridge area of County Galway. We provide individualised services, centre based and community based day and residential services to adults with high support needs and with an aging profile. Our focus is to form a relationship / partnership with each individual and their family to support people to be valued citizens in their local community and to have ordinary life experiences. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships. The Role: Support Workers provide a key-working supportive role for individuals supported by the Service. This role comprises of two main elements. Firstly the Support Worker is responsible for all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes supporting individuals with their meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being, to the extent required by the individual. Secondly, a major focus of the Support Worker role is to assist and support People who use the Service with development of their Individual Plans and the achievement of associated outcomes, and critically, to support People who use the Service in participating in the ordinary everyday life of the community through inclusive and creative thinking. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/Senior Staff/Team Manager/Service Coordinator. Qualifications: Applicants must have a good general education. A recognised qualification appropriate to the Field of intellectual disability is an advantage. A QQI Level 5 or higher desirable. Skills: Candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team-working skills, together with an enthusiasm for the post. Some basic IT skills is also an advantage. Working Hours: All posts are based on a 14 day duty roster. The successful candidate will be required to work over a fortnightly duty rosters with evenings and weekends been part of the working roster. There may be occasional split duty hours. Sleep-ins and night duty are a requirement of these posts in order to meet service needs.
