GALWAY JOB REF: 79163 A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent temporary or locum Support Worker appointments within the Deerpark Services may be made over the next 6 months. Location: Deerpark services is a developing community-based day and residential service in Ballinasloe. We provide community-based day, respite and residential services to adults with varying support needs based on personal outcome measures. Our focus is to form a relationship / partnership with each individual and their family to support people to be valued citizens in their local community and to have ordinary life experiences. We wish to create opportunities for people supported by our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships. The Role: The Support Worker will report to the Team Leader and will fulfil a key role in providing a safe, secure environment where individuals will participate in community and leisure activities, make choices and enjoy a lifestyle that fulfils their potential and expectations with opportunities for new experiences. We wish to recruit innovative, creative, visionary people who will relish the opportunity to assist in achieving this vision. We are looking for individuals with experience working within the Health Care/Intellectual Disability sector. Candidates need to be flexible and adapt to the needs of particular individual’s they support on a daily basis. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/Team Manager/Service Coordinator/Area Manager Qualifications: Applicants must have a good general education. A recognised qualification appropriate to the field of Intellectual Disability is an advantage. A QQI Level 5 or higher is desirable. A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement. Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post. Experience required: Experience working with individuals with an intellectual disability and individuals with challenging behaviour is desirable. Skills: Candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team-working skills, together with an enthusiasm for the post. Working Hours: 78 hours per fortnight x 3 70 hours per fortnight x2 All positions are based on a 7 day duty roster, involving working sleepovers, split shifts, day and night duty, public holidays and weekend work. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: 22 days per annum. Remuneration: Department of Health Care Assistant (Disability Services) pay scale as per the consolidated salary scale dated 01st March 2025 - €33,699 x 11 increments - €46,190 (max) pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment (LSI) €46,984 per annum is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays and night duty when worked. Support Worker
BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – WEST REGION PERMANENT PART-TIME SUPPORT WORKER (DAY SERVICE) SKYLARK SERVICES, ATHENRY, CO. GALWAY JOB REF: 79146 The Role: Support Workers provide a key-working supportive role for a group of people supported by the services. This role comprises of two main elements. Firstly, the Support Worker is responsible for ensuring high quality provision of supports to people who use or Day services in line with current New Directions policy. This includes supporting individuals where required in a range od daily living skills which aim to build on people supported independence in line with their will and preference. This can include but is not limited to support in areas of Food and nutrition, personal development and other related aspects of physical well-being, to the extent required by the individual. Secondly, a major focus of the Support Worker role is to assist people supported by the services with development of Individual Plans and the achievement of associate outcomes, and critically, to support individuals in participating in the ordinary everyday life of the community through inclusive and creative thinking. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/Senior Staff/Service Coordinator/Area Manager. Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a good general education. A recognised qualification in the field of intellectual disability or a FETAC level 5 course is desirable. Experience: Experience working with individuals with an intellectual disability and individuals with challenging behaviour is desirable. Skills: Candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team-working skills, together with an enthusiasm for the post. Some basic IT skills is also an advantage. A full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) is an essential requirement of this post. It may be necessary for the appointee to obtain a Class D1 Driving Licence (if not already in possession of one). Assistance will be given towards this purpose of obtaining a class D1 licence. Working Hours: 1 x 58 hours per fortnight based on a 14 day duty roster. 1 x 70 hours per fortnight based on a 14 day duty roster.
