The National Clinical Programme for people with Disability (NCPPD) document on DRESS Motor Management services outline the key features of DRESS service and describes the general pathways to DRESS’s, the importance of a human rights-based approach, being person-centred, appropriate terminology, the layered and general framework for services, leadership, staffing, supervision, and management of DRESS. Specialised services and supports are required to provide; · Training and consultation for Primary Care services and Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNTs) and/or · Assessment and direct interventions for children where and when necessary to respond to the exceptional complexity or specialised nature of their needs. Services are provided through a layered model of care where people may receive services and supports on different “steps” – e.g. a CDNT and tertiary specialised service at the same time with teams working together on a coordinated shared care plan .This model allows for children to have the majority of services and supports delivered locally but importantly, when required, to have access to regional and tertiary services and supports The Children's Disability Network Team or Primary Care services will remain the primary service provider for these children with a disability and their families Reporting Relationship The Senior Occupational Therapist will report to the Children's Disability Network Manager, who will work collaboratively with the relevant Occupational Therapy Manager to ensure clinical governance and assurance. Key Working Relationships The Senior Occupational therapist will work closely with the DRESS Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist, the Wheelchair Service Therapy Assistant, Engineering Technicians, Children’s Therapy teams, Occupational Therapy colleagues across services, CDNM’s and Occupational Therapy managers. Purpose of the Post The Galway Paediatric Wheelchair Service is a support service under the DRESS motor management pathway. The Senior Occupational therapist in the Galway Paediatric Wheelchair Seating Service will : · Work with children and young people who require complex seating, mobility and wheelchair solutions as part of an integrated care service., · Provide support (via consultative collaborative and direct working) to the child’s Primary team in CDNT or Primary Care in the assessment and provision of wheelchairs · Coach clients, care givers and team members on issues related to the provision of complex seating and mobility. · Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to wheelchair provision, setting standards to ensure best practice. · Ensure coordinated and integrated care between local, and national services Principal Duties and Responsibilities The Senior Occupational Therapist will: Professional / Clinical · Be responsible for the maintenance of standards of practice of self and staff appointed to clinical / designated area(s). · Promote family centred practise, interdisciplinary working and evidence-based best practice in service provision for children with complex seating and mobility needs · Be responsible for managing own caseload and for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment programmes for service users according to service standards. · Participate in the integrated discharge planning process in line with the HSE Code of Practice. · Be responsible for the day-to-day running of a designated service area(s) by supervising staff, prioritising and allocating work and promoting positive staff morale and team working in conjunction with the CDNM and Occupational Therapist Managers. · In conjunction with the CDNM & Occupational Therapist Managers lead service planning by anticipating the changing needs of the service and service users. · Participate in teams and foster and maintain professional working relationships with other team members. · Ensure the quality of documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports and discharge summaries are in accordance with local service, professional and legislative standards. · Communicate verbally and /or in writing results of assessments, treatment / intervention programmes and recommendations to the team and relevant others in accordance with service policy. · Attend clinics, review meetings, team meetings, case conferences, etc where required. · Ensure that staff in the designated service area(s) arrange and carry out duties in a timely manner, within settings appropriate to service user needs, and in line with local policy/guidelines. · Demonstrate advanced proficiency in the ability to assess and prioritise clients according to clinical needs using clinical reasoning skills. · Be responsible for adhering to existing standards and protocols and for leading out on the development and maintenance of standards / strategies for quality improvement and outcome measurement. · Seek advice and assistance with any assigned duties in line with principles of evidence based practice and clinical governance. · Ensure that professional standards are maintained in relation to confidentiality / data protection, ethics and legislation. · Operate within the scope of Occupational Therapy practice as per CORU requirements and in accordance with local guidelines. A panel may be created from which permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part time duration may be filled. The tenure of these posts will be indicated at “expression of interest” stage. This is a pivotal leadership role with dual responsibility for ensuring operational excellence in all financial processes and providing strategic financial partnership to the organisation. You will be the key driver of financial integrity, compliance and insight, managing a team of 14 professionals across payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger. As a trusted advisor to the Head of Finance and non-finance managers, you will play a crucial part in enabling BOCSI to achieve its mission through sound financial stewardship. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: REPORTING/RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Finance West Region. HOURS OF WORK 70 hours per fortnight based on a 5 day Monday to Friday basis.
