An Cuan is a regional support service for people with an intellectual disability that present with behaviours that challenge. This service assists individuals and their circle of support to enhance their quality of life through the implementation of an effective person-centred plan, positive behaviour support plan, and through the provision of interdisciplinary recommendations. An Cuan works with individuals, families and professionals across Cork and Kerry in maintaining and enhancing quality of life outcome. This role will involve working across a number of locations and in the community. Social Care Worker x 1 (Permanent, Kerry) 39 hour working week Salary: The 12-point salary scale for the post as of 01/08/2025: €40,351, €41,908, €43,826, €45,229, €46,647, €48,072, €49,520, €50,990, €52,473, €54,012, €55,599, €56,650 LSI New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale. This will include children with Intellectual, Physical, Sensory disability, Autism and children at risk of or query developmental delay; where their needs require the support of an interdisciplinary team. These teams are under the national model of service provision “Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People” lead by the HSE. The successful candidate will be employed by the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. Assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions are provided in the context of an interdisciplinary team. The CDNT aims to maximise the child/ young adult’s full potential and works within the context of the family and community, empowering and supporting parents/care givers and family members . The Role: Overall Purpose of the Post Services (PDS) model for children and young people with complex needs arising from a disability. As a Lead Agency within this model, Enable Ireland has responsibility for the delivery of services to children assigned to Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT) within designated network areas. Services are provided in accordance with legislative and service delivery frameworks and requirements, within the resources allocated. As a senior member of the interdisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for the provision of Occupational Therapy services, including assessment and intervention to children and adolescents enrolled on the CDNT. Services will be provided across a variety of settings including the clinic, schools, preschools and special schools, children’s homes and community settings. Duties Planning & Managing § To plan and organise individual and group caseloads, and provide a range of occupational therapy services to include assessment, diagnosis and needs based interventions to children with complex needs. § Services may be delivered across a range of settings including but not limited to clinic, home, education (including special educational placements) and community settings. Under the tiered model, this may include direct and indirect support to families as well as key contact and other duties. § To foresee potential challenges or competing priorities and take appropriate action to ensure service standards are maintained. § To foster an awareness of the need for value for money and a sense of accountability for budgets within the team/service. § To take responsibility for the achievement of service delivery targets by regularly monitoring, recording and reporting performance outcomes and statistics. § To demonstrate innovation in aiming to work within resource limitations to sustain and enhance the service. § To take responsibility for the clinical supervision of occupational therapists within the team/service as required. § To identify the needs of and manage the overall caseload of the occupational therapy team. § To participate in relevant clinical and team meetings as deemed appropriate by CDNM and represent the CDNT and/or Lead Agency at meetings and fora as designated. § To maintain appropriate service user records and statistics in accordance with Enable Ireland requirements and local guidelines, Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Acts and other relevant legislation.
