There is currently one permanent whole-time vacancy available within HSE Mid West Acute Services. The post will be based in University Hospital Limerick. A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Clinical Engineering Technician, Principal from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled. Purpose of the Post The Clinical Engineering Technician, Principal, will provide Clinical Engineering and Technical support to all hospital medical devices including diagnostic, analytical, therapeutic, surgical, renal dialysis and life support systems in University Limerick Hospital Group as directed by the Reporting Relationship. The holder of this post will not be under detailed day to day supervision and will be expected to exercise initiative in the performance of his/her duties The post holder may have a lead role responsibility for a particular speciality or specialities. This will be determined based on the post holders skill set, interests, speciality experience and the organisational requirements. The speciality areas assigned may change periodically and the post holder is expected to be able to provide technical support across the full range of patient-critical medical equipment. Additionally, there will be a requirement to provide annual leave cover to other speciality areas. Having due regard to service needs s/he will also liaise with other staff and grades within and outside the service/line manager as necessitated in the identification, acquisition, and support of safe, effective, and economical technology as part of a healthcare professional team, in the provision, delivery, and advancement of patient care.
