We support them to further their education (both internal and external to the Service) and to build their independent living skills if this is their choice. A major focus of the Support Worker role is to assist and support people who use the Service with the development of their own Individual Plan and supporting them to achieve their own Personal Outcome goals. The Support Worker is also responsible for all aspects of personal care, which includes supporting individuals with their meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being as required by the individual. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/Senior Staff/Team Manager/Service Coordinator/Area Manager Qualifications/Experience/Skills: • Candidates must have a good general education. A recognised qualification appropriate to the Field of intellectual disability is an advantage. QQI Level 5 or higher is desirable. • A minimum of one years’ experience of working with individuals with an Intellectual Disability is desirable, full training will be provided. • The candidate should have knowledge of person-centred planning. • A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement. It may be necessary for the appointee to obtain a Class D1 Driving Licence (if not already in possession of one). Assistance will be given towards this purpose of obtaining a class D1 licence, should it be required. • Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post. • To be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team working skills together with an enthusiasm for the post. Working Hours: Full-time hours are 78 hours a fortnight/part-time hours will vary. All posts are rostered over a 14 day/night duty roster. There may be a requirement for Support Workers to work days, waking night duty, weekends, split duty hours, bank holidays, and sleepovers to meet service needs. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours in order to ensure the provision of high quality services for each individual. Annual Leave: 22 days per annum. Remuneration: Department of Health Care Assistant (Intellectual Disability) salary scale (01/10/2024) - €33,699 x 11 Increments - €46,190 (Max) pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment (LSI) €46,984 pro rata per annum is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays, sleep-ins and night-duty when worked. Tenure: These posts are permanent/temporary and pensionable. Location: John Paul Adult Services provides a combination of campus and community based services to adults with varying support needs, based on personal outcome measures. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/ Service Co-ordinator / Area Manager Qualifications/Experience: • A current Live Register Certificate from An Bord Altranais, RNID/RPN qualification is an advantage. • One years’ experience working with people with an Intellectual Disability is an essential requirement of the post. • A full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) is an essential requirement of this post. Working Hours: Permanent post: 75 hours a fortnight based on a Monday-Friday working between the hours of 8.30-17.30. Temporary posts: 75 hours a fortnight based on a 7 day work rota. BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – WEST REGION POST OF TEMPORARY FULL-TIME STAFF NURSE/*ENHANCED NURSE CHILDREN’S SERVICES, GALWAY CITY & COUNTY JOB REF: 81167 A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Staff Nurse/Enhanced Nurse appointments within the Children’s Services may be made over the next 6 months. Location: This post is primarily located in Crannog Children’s Respite Service . Crannog provides a respite service to children from 6 years of age up to 18 years of age who have a wide range of needs including those with Physical disability, complex medical needs, Autism and behavioural needs. There may also be a requirement to cover hours in the other Children’s Services including Crannmor Respite, Rosedale School and the Child Development Centres located in Galway City. Candidates will be required to be completely flexible in this position and will be required to work a variety of hours including day and night duty hours and sleep-ins as required. The Role: To support the implementation of children’s individualised developmental and educational programmes and work together with the multidisciplinary and staff teams in ensuring the maximum benefit of the programme for the children. To provide clinical nursing skills in supporting children with complex needs. To demonstrate and maintain the highest quality of nursing practice and apply his/ her skills to ensure the developmental, learning, physical, social, and emotional needs of the children in his/ her care are addressed at all times. Be an informed resource for educating and supporting care assistants and family members. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/ Children’s Services Co-ordinator/ Sector Manager. Works With: - Children and families; - Staff Teams; - Multidisciplinary Staff. Qualifications/Experience: • A current Live Register Certificate from the NMBI (An Bord Altranais). A RNID qualification is highly desirable. • Candidates must have a minimum of six months experience of working with children with an Intellectual Disability. • A full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) is desirable for this post. • Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post. • Basic IT skills are also desirable. Skills: Candidates must demonstrate: • Good judgement, discretion and confidentiality. • The ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms, and to communicate sensitively with family members and work with them for the best outcomes. • Creative problem solving skills. • The ability to work independently and seek support from interdisciplinary colleagues as appropriate. • Patience, flexibility, creativity and eagerness to become involved in a range of activities. • Ability to educate other staff and family members in positive health promotion needs. • The successful candidate will be required to co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy. Participate in person-centred planning, reviews and team meetings. • Attend and participate in training courses, and be an active member of the team. Working Hours: 75 hours per fortnight based on a 7-day/night duty roster. The successful candidate will be required to work days, evenings, weekends, public holidays and night duty and sleep-ins to meet service needs. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: 24 days per annum. Appropriate service-related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years’ service respectively. Remuneration: Department of Health salary scales as at 01/03/2025 apply: Staff Nurse - €36,919 x 11 increments - €53,340 per annum. Long Service Increment €54,928 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. *Enhanced Nurse – € 43,872 x 7 increments - €55,093 per annum. Long Service Increment €56,706 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. *As per HSE HR Circular 022/2019 – Nursing and Midwifery - the Enhanced Nurse / Midwife Practice Contract https://www.hse.ie/eng/staff/resources/hr-circulars/hr-circular-022-2019-re-enhanced-nurse-midwife-contract.pdf; once a staff nurse reaches point 4 on the Staff Nurse salary scale, they become eligible to apply for the role of Enhanced Nurse. Any Staff Nurse who wishes to avail of the Enhanced Nurse role will have to submit an application and also meet the qualifying criteria. Salary quoted is based on a 37.5 hour working week. The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous relevant nursing service. Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays, and sleep-ins and night duty when worked. A location allowance of €2,637 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) will also be paid when assigned to services where 75% of the persons supported have a diagnosis of severe/profound intellectual disability. Tenure: The post is temporary, full-time and pensionable linked on a specific purpose basis to a permanent employee’s leave within the Services. Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment.
