Location: The location of this post will be confirmed upon appointment and flexibility to be based across the Borough will be required. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB This role sits within the new Business Support division within the newly created Corporate & Support Services Directorate. Reporting to the Governance & Democratic Services Manager you will be responsible for the organisation and administration of meetings of Full Council, its Committees in accordance with the Standing Orders, regulation and best practice. You will advise members and officers on the application of the Council’s Standing Orders. You and your team will support the induction, training and development of elected members. You will, along with your team, act as lead officers for managing the Council’s scrutiny function. The shortlisting panel will base shortlisting decisions on the information contained within the Essential Criteria narrative sections of the application form. The post-holder will support the Directorate / Section in implementing the integration of new and current functions and responsibilities. The post-holder will ensure that their Section and its employees comply and adhere to all statutory and legislative requirements and works in accordance with good governance and safety requirements. Duration of Appointment: Permanent Hours of Work: 36 Hours per week The post holder must be prepared to work outside normal office hours, including evenings, weekends, and Public and extra Statutory Holidays for which the appropriate payment will be made or time in lieu granted if relevant. Work Pattern: Flexi Monday to Friday Hours of work are kept under review and may change in order to meet operational requirements, providing requisite notice. Location: Council Offices, Downshire Civic, Downpatrick or Council Offices, McGrath House, Newry. The post holder may be required to transfer to other locations in accordance with any requirements stated in the Job Description, any reviews of service delivery or other requirements as may arise from time to time.
