Located in South County Dublin and on the border with North Wicklow, St. Columcille’s has a national speciality in obesity management and the National Gender Service. In addition to general medicine, day surgery and care of the elderly, St. Columcille’s has an orthopaedic and Stroke Rehabilitation service. The Radiology Department at St Columcille’s Hospital provides Diagnostic imaging services for all inpatients, local injuries/ Medical Assessment Unit patients and OPD patients of the hospital and for all GP patients in the South Dublin, Wicklow region. A satellite Radiology Diagnostics Department will operate providing Ultrasound and General Radiography are available in the Bray Primary Care Centre. The Department is equipped with the following imaging modalities: General/ X-ray, CT, Ultrasound and DXA Scanning mobile X-ray, Fluoroscopy. Radiology Services are provided for SVUH. The Department participates in the Radiography student training programme UCD School of Diagnostic Imaging with onsite Clinical Tutors. Links are maintained between SVUH and St Michael's Hospital in proximity and within our Hospital Group. There is approximately 14 WTE Radiography staff including Staff grade, Senior, Clinical Specialist and RSM grades. The Radiology staff complement also includes Consultant Radiologists. Nursing staff, Clerical staff and Attendant/ Assistant staff. The Radiology Department in St Columcille’s Hospital provides Diagnostic Imaging Services to inpatients, outpatients, GP referrals, the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Assessment Unit. Radiology Services include General Radiography, CT, Ultrasound, DXA Scanning, and Fluoroscopy An on-call service operates currently 24/7 to facilitate referrals from the Emergency Department and In-patients. Reporting Relationship The post holders will report to the Radiology Services Manager (RSM) Purpose of the Post The post of Radiographer Clinical Specialist (Ultrasound) plays a pivotal role in service planning, coordination, and management of activities and allocated resources within the unit. The primary responsibilities are: quality assurance, scheduling workflow, staff development, facilitating communication and professional/clinical leadership. The Clinical Specialist Radiographer (Ultrasound) will be primarily responsible for ensuring that Ultrasound is performed to a high standard of technical quality in a caring and efficient manner and in line with established guidelines and operating procedures. The post holder must function integrally within the Radiology team and have scanning proficiency in the General and Vascular ultrasound areas. The post holder will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team and will lead, guide, and supervise radiographic and other staff to successfully manage the Ultrasound service, with effective utilisation of all allocated resources. The post holder must be able to operate in a rapidly changing environment and be willing to undertake additional duties within the Diagnostic Imaging Department as assigned from time to time. Practical clinical experience will include time assigned to work in the relevant specialist area but needs to comply with the following breakdown: · Pre commencement of a postgraduate course (maximum of 1 year* allowed); · Time spent completing the post graduate course (maximum of 1 year** allowed); · A minimum of 2 years’ experience* following completion of a postgraduate course. *A minimum of 12 weeks assigned to work in the relevant specialised area will be required for each relevant year to be counted. **The research component of a postgraduate programme will count towards the post course time once the Radiographer has successfully completed the taught components of the programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, communicating, and implementing specific actions to achieve KWETB Further Education and Training Strategic targets as they apply to Further Education and Training. The position requires a person who is flexible, multi-disciplined, and experienced. A high degree of motivation and commitment to a learner-centred model of learning is essential. An overall summary of the main duties is provided below. The successful candidate may be allocated different or additional duties in line with the needs of the Further Education and Training Service. Place of Work Further Education and Training Centres across County Kildare and County Wicklow. Hours of Work Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. Attendance will be at such times as necessary for the delivery of the service. Attendance outside of normal office hours will be by prior agreement with the Further Education and Training Director or Adult Education Officer and will be offset against normal working hours attendance. Salary Scale Salary will be paid in accordance with such rates as may be authorised by the Minister for Education from time to time for the position. The current salary scale starts at €48,911 per annum. Starting pay will be in accordance with Circular Letter 0043 2023. Main Duties The duties of the post will include, but may not necessarily be confined to, under the direction of the Director of Further Education and Training or Adult Education Officer of KWETB: • Coordinating the planning, development, and management of the relevant Further Education and Training services under the direction of the Adult Education Officer or Director of Further Education and Training in accordance with the overall plan for the service. • Being responsible for the day to day delivery of the service. • Recruiting, assessing, and placing learners into appropriate learning groups. • Promoting and supporting the development and nurturing of new learning opportunities. • Supporting, motivating, and managing resource workers, educators, learners, and other relevant staff. • Organising and or supporting the identification and delivery of initial and ongoing training and development for staff. • Overseeing the Health and Safety requirements of the service, including the Health and Safety of staff, learners, and buildings, and assisting and providing input into the wider KWETB Health and Safety policies and processes. • Developing and encouraging partnerships and links between community education and statutory and other providers. • Promoting the service in the wider community. • Initiating and facilitating programmes and initiatives at out centres. • Being responsible for quality assurance, accreditation, and certification. • Sharing good practice from the sector and supporting the mainstreaming of relevant national policy and practice. • Acting in a representative capacity, if required, on matters relating to Adult Literacy Organiser functions. • Assisting in the management of resources, for example financial, premises, materials, and personnel, as appropriate and relevant to the needs of the local programme. • Keeping records and preparing reports and submissions in consultation with the Director of Further Education and Training or Adult Education Officer as appropriate. • Enhancing own expertise through training, development, and networking with relevant bodies. • Setting a good standard of professional interactions and ensuring excellent relationship boundaries are in place. • Upholding professional integrity at all times, maintaining discretion and confidentiality. • Maintaining an ethos appropriate to adult learning. • Carrying out any other duties appropriate to the needs of the local scheme as may be assigned by the Adult Education Officer or Director of Further Education and Training for the effective and efficient management of resources. • The role will require some work to take place outside of normal business hours. Qualifications The following are essential requirements for appointment to this post: • A qualification at Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications or its equivalent in an appropriate area. Experience • A minimum of five years working in Adult Basic Education Services or other significant relevant work experience. • Programme leadership experience in the Further Education and Training Sector is desirable. • The appointee should demonstrate a clear understanding of, and empathy with, the philosophy and processes of adult basic and language education. • A high level of expertise in the Further Education and Training Sector. • Broad Public Sector knowledge relevant to the area of work. • Travel is an essential requirement for this role. • A full driving licence and access to own transport are essential requirements for this role. • Candidates must be willing to work flexibly outside of normal working hours as required. Programme leadership experience in the Further Education and Training Sector is desirable. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties of the Caretaker are listed below. Duties may vary depending on the needs of the school. The Principal will confirm duties on appointment. Ensure that the school buildings are safe and secure at the conclusion of classes, examinations, or functions. Take care of the school premises and contents and to prevent as far as possible any damage to the structure, furniture and equipment. To keep the school premises, furniture and equipment secure. To keep the school premises, furniture and fittings in a clean condition. To keep in a clean condition all glass doors, windows, etc., and to carry out painting of walls, wood-work and window frames as directed by the Principal and/or the Deputy Principal. To see to the heating requirements of the building and safeguard the heating and water pipes during the cold period of the year. To keep in safe custody the keys of all rooms in the building and to ensure that no unauthorised person has access to any part of the building. To open and close the school for functions outside of the normal school hours when necessary. When night classes, examinations or school functions are being held, the Caretaker will be obliged to be on duty a minimum of a half an hour before the start of such classes or functions and have rooms in readiness for classes and functions.
