NIFRS wish to invite applications for the following role: Accounting Technician - Job Ref: N054/08/2026 The Accounting Technician will assist the Finance offices with timely and accurate production of financial reports, information and reconciliations, through the provision of high quality administrative and technical support. They will contribute as an integral member of the Finance team to the provision of a modern, professional and responsive Financial Services to support the vision and mission of NIFRS. This is an excellent opportunity for suitably qualified Accounting Technician's, the role comes with an excellent benefits package including on-site parking, flexible working, generous holidays and gym facilities on-site (see separate benefits package document for further detail). Hours of work; Currently 36¼ hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. A Flexible Working Hours Scheme is in operation. In view of the level of this appointment, the post holder will be required to work in such a way as to fulfil the obligations of the post. Hybrid working may be available upon completion of the probationary period; currently Finance staff are required to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week, but should be available 5 days a weeks to attend the office as and when required for business need. There is currently 1 permanent post based at NIFRS HQ in Lisburn. This recruitment and selection process will also be used to fill future vacancies, a reserve list will be created for 12 months should any additional permanent or fixed term vacancies arise (offers of posts will be made in merit order). Salary The salary scale is SO2. The salary range is currently £37,280 - £39,152 per annum (Under Review). Essential Criteria · Qualified Accounting Technician or studying towards a higher professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.). · Good understanding of accounting processes · Experience in the preparation and review of Management Accounts to include e.g. bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments, AP/AR reviews, fixed asset accounting. · Must have prepared and submitted VAT returns to HRMC · Working knowledge of Accounting Software Desirable Criteria (The following criteria may be applied if a large pool of applicants exist) · Third Level Degree (or equivalent) · Qualified Accountant with a recognised body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.) · Have prepared information for year-end statutory audits · Have completed Government statistical and other statutory returns · Have prepared and submitted VAT and Intrastat Returns · Familiar with Customs requirements for Import VAT and Deferred Duty · Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant role · Has previous experience of an ERP System for the review of Financial Data · Familiar with credit control principles.
