Environment, Health AND Safety Officer

MAIN FUNCTION The EHS Officer will carry overall responsibility for the management and co-ordination of all Environmental, Health & Safey requirements across the Denroy, Denpro and Denman sites located in Bangor. Reporting to the Operations Manager they will ensure compliance in all areas of EHS in accordance with the company policies and relevant statutory provisions. contribute to the strategic vision by developing, deploying and improving processes, systems and procedures to continue to provide a safe environment to our employees. Demonstrating high levels of self-discipline and competence to deliver the standards, communication, training, and systems required to gain ISO 45001 accreditation with the support of team in the Denroy Group. Proactivity and an enthusiastic approach towards safety with significant experience in improving standards and creating culture of involvement, will be critical to the success of this role. Working hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 17:00, Friday 08:00 – 13:30. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Ensure safe workplace environment without risk to health. • Ensure all Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and regularly reviewed, updated and communicated. • Ensure Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting. • Ensure completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations. • Ensure all accidents and environmental incidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented. • Ensure EHS inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms correctly reported, environmental response drills conducted, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed and employees aware of their responsibilities. • Co-ordinate development of EHS policies, systems of work and procedures. • Ensure full and accurate EHS training records are maintained. • Establish full programme of documented environmental, H&S inspections, audits and checks. • Establish structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company. • Liaise with external health & safety consultants in provision of training programmes and H&S services. • Manage and devise agenda for, chair and formulate & distribute minutes for the H&S Committee meetings. Ensure that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines. • Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant environmental, health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business. • Provide regular reports to the Operations Manager, Human Resources Manager, Board of Directors/Senior Leadership Team on relevant health and safety activities. • Lead monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters. • Liaise with suppliers i.e. Insurers, solicitors etc • Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA At least 3 years recent and relevant experience in a similar role NEBOSH (General Certificate) qualified or working towards NEBOSH certificate accreditation. NEBOSH Environmental Certificate COSHH Trained Provision of advice to managers/supervisors Handling of H&S investigations Experience of formulating, implementing, and revising H&S policies and procedures DESIRABLE CRITERIA NEBOSH Diploma Member of institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH)
