NCHD Registrar/SHO in Rehabilitation Medicine – Temporary Full-Time Contract duration: Due to start March 2026, subject to successful completion of onboarding requirements, with initial duration until July 2026 rotation. The National Rehabilitation University Hospital (NRH) in Dun Laoghaire is the national tertiary referral centre for Ireland providing complex specialist rehabilitation services to adult and paediatric patients from all parts of Ireland in a range of CARF-accredited inpatient, out-patient and community programmes. The NRH is a publicly funded voluntary hospital and operates on the ethos of providing high quality care and treatment to patients on the basis of clinical need, irrespective of background or status. The NRH receives medical students from all three Dublin medical schools (UCD, TCD and RCSI). The NRH is undergoing a major transformation of its facilities and services. Phase 1 of the redevelopment project received patients in June 2020 and provides a unique, purpose-built facility that includes 120 single ensuite rooms with integrated therapy, clinical and social spaces. We are seeking SHOs and Registrars to join our existing team of consultants and specialist registrars. Rehabilitation Medicine forms a component of training in several medical sub-specialties and general practice. The Sunflower Suite and the Inpatient Obesity Management Program: The 6 week inpatient obesity rehabilitation program aims to improve physical function and mobility and offer an opportunity for enhanced psychological treatments. It provides an opportunity to reset eating behaviours and to coordinate treatment for any medical complications of obesity that are present for example treatment of lower limb lymphedema or obstructive sleep apnoea. Each individual patient area consists of a bed, chair, table and storage facilities. There are two purpose-built toilet facilities within the unit. The nursing staff provide assistance with personal care should it be required. There are washing facilities available on site for laundry. The patients will follow a low calorie liquid diet consisting of semi-skimmed milk. The dietitian will discuss this with the patient in detail before admission. Taking part in the program is a great opportunity to establish a daily routine to build on mobility. There are various activities in which patients take part. Patients are encouraged to spend time outdoors in the space around the hospital grounds. The sunflower Suite is a four bedded unit, it is staffed by a nurse and a health care assistant. The clinical specialist occupational therapist will work within the occupational therapy team and provide in-patient and or outpatient occupational therapy to the scoliosis surgery service. Purpose and Summary of Post: This is a permanent role at Saint John of God Hospital, at Grade IV level, reporting to the Administrative Coordinator. The post holder is responsible for providing efficient and effective secretarial and administrative support to all areas of the administration department, consultant psychiatrists, medical / multidisciplinary teams and any other personnel, as directed. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The following is intended for the guidance of the person assigned to the post but is not an exhaustive list of the duties associated with the post. · You will be a member of the Administration Department. · Hours of Duty: You will be required to operate a 17.5-hour week over 4 days. Your hours of work will be as agreed with your line manager and in line with service needs. Contract info: Commencing 12th January 2026.MRCP or equivalent desirable. 6 month contract, fixed purpose contract (covering Maternity Leave) The Division of Haematology training programme in general/malignant haematology, VTE and Maternal haematology offers a unique learning and research experience to trainees at all career stages. Trainees will rotate to gain unparalleled experience in malignant and general haematology and Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) multidisciplinary care, including the care of pregnant women with haematological conditions. We provide a structured, curriculum-based lecture series in general haematology and VTE/maternal haematology. Critical appraisal of literature is promoted and trainees will learn to apply biostatistical knowledge to permit interpretation of study findings. Through our world-class National and International Networks, we encourage each of our trainees to achieve collaborative, patient-centred research outcomes, including at least one peer-reviewed publication and presentations at international conferences. Trainees will gain exposure to international clinical trials in malignant haematology, VTE and maternal haematology.
